State Government to Osun APC: Stop Lying, Osun Government not Rebagging Palliative

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO-20/04/2024-Osunstate

The Government of Osun State has chided the state's All Progressive Congress (APC) over its allegation that federal palliatives rice have been re-bagged for sharing to the public.

“There is no truth in the allegation. The release from the APC is another manifestation of the opposition's desperation”, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment noted in a rebuttal.

According to the Commissioner, “ the federal rice palliatives are just coming into the state and none of it was re-bagged.

“ The delivery is still ongoing and they are in safe keeping as they are delivered. The government has already activated its structure for the sharing of the federal palliative to reach all strata of the society.

“ The government however deem the supply from the central government insufficient, hence its decision to buy more trucks of rice for distribution to the population.

“ Rice purchased by the state which are also being delivered are however branded and they are also due for sharing very soon. What is branded are the state's rice, not federal palliative , the delivery of which is still ongoing.

“We challenge the APC leadership to come to the State stores for verification. Sooko Tajudeen Lawal and his team of fake news merchants will, after inspection, see the futility of lying to mislead the public.

“ The present administration is committed to due process, rule of law, transparency and accountability for the delivery of good governance. Members of the public should ignore the rantings of an opposition in search of political direction.

SALE OF OMOLUABI MORTGAGE TO CITI TRUST & ADEKUNLE ADEWOLE: CIVIL SOCIETY GROUP THREATENS TO DRAG EX-GOVERNOR OYETOLA TO EFCC

PRESS STATEMENT

An Osun based civil society coalition, Psun Transparency Alliance has threatened to drag former Governor Gboyega Oyetola to the anti-graft agencies over an alleged shady sale of the state owned Omoluabi Mortgage firm to Citi Trust and one Adekunle Adewole.

In a statement signed by its Convener, Lanre Adebola, the group raised salient questions for which it demanded answers directly from Mr Oyetola.

The statement reads as follows:

“On a daily basis, many revealtions reflect the depth of damage Mr Oyetola's four year tenure wrought on Osun state.

“Why did Oyetola sell the Osun Omoluabi Mortgage firm to Citi Trust?

“Who are the owners of Citi Trust? Who is Citi Trust fronting for ?

“Why did Mr Oyetola sell another part of State shares to Mr Adekunle Adewole?

“Who is Mr Adekunle Adewole representing or fronting for?

“Former Governor Oyetola is challenged to answer these questions. The Minister of Blue Economy should explain it to Osun people of Osun.

“If he fails to explain to the public, our civil society coalition will drag the Minister to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC)

“In 1993, Osun did the unthinkable. It was only two years after it was carved out of Oyo state yet, it was able to raise hopes about the future. That was what the decision to incorporate a financial company, the Osun Building Society Limited, clearly portrayed.

“The company was established to provide mortgage banking services, mortgage financing, real estate construction financing and general financial services. It was a bold and futuristic step, and interestingly, was taken under the administration of the first Executive Governor of Osun State, late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke. That kick-started a journey to not just financial identity for the state but also a strategic investment for the benefits of all.

“But all of that is gone now and the reason for this is in a 2019 deal that puts the controlling shares of the state in the financial company in jeopardy. The administration of Gboyega Oyetola sold-off a significant amount of shares of the state in the financial company to Citytrust Financial Service, leaving the private firm with majority stake.

“This brought about a lot of changes. From the name, Omoluabi Mortgage Bank to LivingTrust Mortgage Bank, to the organizational structure, almost everything was tilted to the side of the supposed private investors.

“And you know what, there is no one who can say exactly what was the worth of Osun shares in Omoluabi Mortgage Bank that was traded off and what happened to the money.

“There is no way one can turn away from the question on the proceeds of the share sale especially in the light of the revelation of a former commissioner of finance under the Rauf Aregbesola administration. In a piece sometime in 2021, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro disclosed that the Aregbesola administration had injected "N2 billion to retain that bank through structured leverage capitalization and before Aregbesola left office, the total assets of that bank was over N5 billion. I guess Oyetola’s government has sold some shareholding, which could be worth N2 billion in that bank now."

“At least, Osun people have every right to know what happened to their investment in the financial company, more so, when Dr. Bolorunduro noted that the fund injected into Omoluabi Mortgage Bank by the Aregbesola administration was borrowed. That is what accountability is all about.

“But there is something even more troubling in the whole arrangement. The register of shareholders indicated that while CityTrust Holding Plc had a stake of 40.82% in LivingTrust Mortgage Bank, the Osun State Government and the Osun State Local Government hold 18.03% and 21.80% stakes respectively. Adekunle Adewole, who recently resigned as a Managing Director in the company, had a stake of 7.39% and others have a combined stake of 11.96% in the financial company.

“So, the question that must linger in the minds of every conscious Osun citizen is who sold the stake held by Mr. Adekunle Adewole to him? This question is necessary considering the leverage that the stake attributed to him and those of others would have for the state, especially in terms of control. Take, for instance, between 2019 and now, the CityTrust Holding Plc had produced two Managing Directors for the financial company whereas, Osun has only been able to produce a chairman once, which was under Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

“Although, those who did this tried to persuade concerns that it is in Osun's best interest but that is not what is happening. It is unimaginable that a venture that was wholly owned by the Osun state in the beginning has been manipulated in favour of a private firm and individuals without the knowledge of the real owner of the asset, which is the Osun people.

“Unless we want to continue to lie to ourselves, the glaring reality as far as the LivingTrust Mortgage Bank is concerned, is that Osun people have been shortchanged. The vision, the purpose, resources and sweat that went into the creation of the financial company over 31 years ago has been defeated, and the most painful things here is that, it may not be possible to reverse it

“Perhaps it will not be too late for those who traded off Osun's significant control in the Omoluabi Mortgage Bank to come clean on what transpired and if possible, let the people know what happened to the money realized from it. While this may not be enough to salvage the already done damage, at least, Osun should get something from a terrible deal that will reverberate for a very long time.

“We demand explanations failing which we will file a petition for action at the EFCC”, the group declared.

How Bayo Adeleke Banik Lied: The Truths Unveiled

Former Commissioner for Local Government under Mr Gboyega Oyetola went on Fresh FM yesterday to spew his usual lies and leveled unsubstantiated allegations against state government leaders amidst failure of the anchor and the station's management to practice and enforce journalistic professionalism and the Broadcasting code as approved by the National Broadcasting Commission(NBC).

Instead of pushing for sanction against the station through NBC especially for forbidding balancing and fairness among others, it is important to dispel the lies from a former Commissioner reputed for his twisting of facts, his glorification of falsehood and his constantly and shamelessly insulting the intelligence of the well educated Osun people.

The premises for setting the records straight are as follows:

● The main essence of government is to impact positively and consistently on the people;

● Delivering on good governance is compulsory for any truly pro-people government;

● Rule of law, Fairness, Due Process and fear of God rule the Adeleke administration;

● Selfless service is the watchword of the state leadership as the Governor hails from an evidently blessed family;

● Current government deploys state assets and resources to GENUINELY serve the people, not some interests whose sole objective is to milk the state dry as the past reflected;

● The Adeleke administration completes abandoned and uncompleted projects as a sacred state duty, not for political considerations;

● The Adeleke administration earns people's trust and confidence because of its transparency, programme delivery and accountability in governance.

Having laid the above premises, below are the truths in response to the fiction and fables spouted put from a delusional source:

1.Discrepancy in financial management: Management of state resources has never been more transparent in Osun than what we have currently. The current government reformed the financial system and threw out many Oyetola consultants who even got paid more than the state in their unproductive consulting activities. The state leadership plugs all loopholes and ensures the state fund is not hoarded in Lagos but deployed through a mixture of direct labour and well structured procurement process in service of the people. Osun will never go back to the era of opaque financial management which deprived the state of needed resources and opportunities.

2. Salary, pension/half salary et al: Banik's statement on the issue of salaries and half salaries reconfirmed the wickedness of the Oyetola administration on workers’ welfare. For those four years, workers suffered hell and what Banik's postulation suggested was that it was deliberate. Governor Adeleke is not only paying salaries but also clearing half salary and pension debt which Oyetola refused to touch for four years. The Governor has also ensured the payment cooperative deduction from worker's salary which Oyetola left unpaid. He has cash backed backlog of promotions he inherited which Banik is trying to deny. He has reformed the service by conducting and effecting promotion of civil servants who are due for promotions. Banik cannot wash away the evil legacy of Oyetola on workers welfare.

3. Alleged Misappropriation of N7 Billion for road infrastructures: Banik was largely defamatory in his outburst but we will educate him out of his politically induced misrepresentation of facts. First, the said fund was expressly described as “infrastructure intervention” when the disbursement was announced. It was meant to support state infrastructure, not for sharing as Banik alleged. Secondly, the money was part of trillions of naira owed the state's from Federation Account Allocation. Three, Mr Governor did not embezzle the fund as was the practice in the past, especially under the administration that Banik was an integral part of, but created a dedicated project account alongside other funds meant for bridging the huge infra deficit inherited from the Oyetola administration. Banik was unhappy that our roads and bridges are been fixed but would prefer the money being squandered as was their style in the past.

4. N100 billion infra plan: false to assert that N25 billion was allocated to only Ede out of N100 billion. It is also false to declare that Ede has 12 or so roads. They are all concoctions of Banik to underplay the giant strides of the current government. The truth is that the infra plan is indeed multi-billion naira far above N100 billion. Secondly, the dualisation of roads at Ede are both fresh construction. Three, Ede like other towns benefited from the state local government joint projects from which the 30 local governments are beneficiaries. The road dualisation was one per Senatorial district namely Ede/Egbedore for Osun West, Osogbo for Central and Ilesa for Eastern Senatorial district. The overhead bridges and bridge bypass were also according to Senatorial districts namely Ile Ife for East, Owode for West and Ikirun and Osogbo for Central. Osogbo has two for its special status as the state capital. The West has the additional ongoing work on Iwo- Osogbo road which has economic and political significance for the three local governments making up the Iwo Zone. Let's add that the current infra plan is phase one as another plan will be unfolded by midterm which will further expand the infrastructure expansion of our dear State.

Banik should be ashamed of the records of Mr Oyetola who left Osun with a 90 percent infrastructure deficit as confirmed by several reputable rating groups.

5. Slow Work on Infrastructure: Banik claimed Ede road work started February 2023. This is a lie from the pit of hell. Let us educate the rabble rouser. Governor Adeleke had a 100 days programme which involved road and bridges rehabilitation and construction as well as water and school upgrades. The said Ede road was only given palliative work then to make it motorable as it had turned badly and construction actually began after the announcement of the infra plan late last year when the decision of dualisation was taken. Banik should know that the infra plan was announced in October 2023 but implementation began in December 2023 and so, it will be December 2024 before the project will be a year contrary to his lies. Even at that, the contractors across the infra plan are working to beat the deadline and even deliver before then. Osun people should note that Governor Adeleke is delivering despite the over 1000 percent increment in the cost of construction materials.

6. Reactive or Proactive Governance: First, Governor Adeleke has been exceptionally proactive. At the same time, this is a listening government. Mr Governor accepts representation from various groups as a democrat. He operates within his five point agenda and focuses on delivering and serving the public interest. Mr Governor is a leader of deep thoughts, with an agenda and strategies for getting to the destination. But who will take advice from the failed squad of yesterday?

7. Favoritism towards Ede: Data don't lie. The cabinet and top appointments are evenly spread. Ijesaland has top commissioners– six in all with strong portfolios. His Royal Majesty, Owa Obokun of Ijesahalnd openly attested to the love of the Governor for Ijesa people. The first major water project contract of over a billion naira approved by the state executive council is that of Oke-Ila water works abandoned by Mr Oyetola throughout his tenure. Is Igbomina area part of Ede? The Governor also completed the Ikirun -Osogbo dualisation in record time. Is Ikirun part of Ede? Three bridges at Iwo, Ile Ife and Gbongan collapsed during Oyetola's tenure and they remained abandoned until after his tenure. Today, Governor Adeleke had rebuilt those bridges. The royal father of Gbongon is eager to visit Mr Governor on a thank you visit. Governor Adeleke must have hailed from Adeeke area of Iwo. Mr Oyetola played politics with the University of Ilesa and delivered an audio tertiary institution to the Ijesa people. An Ede man came on the scene and commenced genuine work and today University of Ilesa is a reality with funding and an Ijesaman as a Vice Chancellor. Prof Taiwo Asaolu Olufemi is from Oke Gada, Ede.

9. Companies handling Infra Projects: Firstly, the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke complied with all applicable and extant laws in the design and awards of the infra projects. No procurement law was violated and due diligence was done. Secondly, the companies are performing and the state is monitoring to ensure delivery. Thirdly, the companies are adopting local resources and local content. And more importantly, they are delivering quality jobs and the state is focused on quality control within an overall framework of monitoring and Evaluation. Banik’s real headache is that the opposition plan to stop the infra plan has failed. And on the cost of projects and roads, the best of experts even from the opposition acknowledged the correctness of Osun project costs within the context of national and global inflation rates. Maybe Banik should go and take a tutorial from the Minister of Works on valuation and costing of road projects.

10. Extension of Service: Banik and his boss, Mr Oyetola extended the tenure of Mr Olowogboyega as Head of Service. Mr President just extended the tenure of Service of an FCTA Service chief. Is it illegal? No. Is it within their constitutional power? Yes. Does the constitution supersede public service regulations? Yes.

11. On Monarchs’ Appointment: The administration has consistently complied with the law, hence there is peace since the implementation of the white paper on Iree, Igbajo and Ikirun chieftaincy matters. The government will continue to abide by the rules, custom and the law governing chieftaincy matters.

12. Cybercrime laws: Governor Adeleke is a leader committed to due process , free speech as well as observance of all laws, both state and federal. The cyber crime law is a federal legislation which Mr Oyetola used extensively during his rule and which Governor Adeleke has never for once applied since he assumed office. To show Banik hypocrisy, Messrs Saheed and Ropo, two victims of Oyetola's administration application of the Cybercrime laws will suffice. Or, Banik will feign unaware or he is just showing his trade in lying and twisting fact as usual.

And more importantly, the said law is being applied severally at federal and state levels. Yet Mr Governor insists on jealously guarding freedom of speech and fundamental human rights, all within the rule of law. So how come Banik did not campaign against the said law when his boss was applying it? What exactly does the law say? That if you called somebody a thief, you should be ready to show proof of the allegations. Does that not make sense or people should defame and assassinate characters without consequences?

13. Action Committee on Sexual Violence Against Women: Banik is behind news. Let's enlighten him. The Governor's Forum in February adopted a resolution for states to set up committees and mobile courts on the subject. Banik is bitter that Osun is the first state to act on the resolution. Why is Banik so opposed to our womenfolk?

14. Contract and Assets Recovery Committee's report: Banik should not worry. The administration is a due process one. All diverted state assets will be recovered. The Committee is working. Banik and his people should just take note.

15. Increase in state allocation: Report of increase in state earning should be a source of joy for Osun people including the opposition. When Mr Governor announced a multi-billion naira infra plan in December, even the opposition questioned where the fund will come from. Mr Governor designed a programme of spending even when the resources were not available. So when we had the resources, the state already had a plan of spending. The infra plan is a thoughtful agenda which confirmed Mr Governor's preparedness for leadership.

16. Associated issues: Imole Youth Corps is due for unveiling soon. It has better features and now serves as a transition job for participants. On O-Meal, Banik is ignorant of the programme being a federal one with the state as an implementing partner. The Federal Government suspended the programme due to a corruption probe and the state is using that gap to reform the inherited system to make it more functional.

17. Osun is on auto-pilot: Banik and Ajibola Bashiru’s parroting alleged refrain of Osun on auto pilot misconstrued the real meaning of a democratic system of government. In a democracy, the President and the Governor are not autocratic, they hold and exercise power in trust and must govern through a consultative system which is the essence of democracy. Democratic government statutorily assigned responsibilities. The job of Mr President or a Governor is to ensure that the system works within the framework of his vision and agenda, like the five point agenda. If Mr Oyetola acted otherwise, Banik and Bashiru should not expect the same style from Governor Adeleke. Some old comrades have forgotten what democracy means due to pains of electoral loss. Governor Adeleke is a firm leader but with deep understanding of democratic system and workings Osun is not on auto-pilot, hence the many progress and achievements. Osun voted for a democrat and voted out a little tyrant. Today, Osun is a haven of democratic governance amidst delivery of good governance acknowledged at home and abroad.

FINAL NOTE

It is good to conclude on this note that the Adeleke administration is indeed fully prepared for fact based debate and engagement with the opposition. We only plead that fake news should not be the basis of interaction. Osun people expect both the government and the opposition to stick to fact based arguments.

No amount of distortion of reality can change the fact of incredible progress Osun state is recording under Governor Ademola Adeleke. We invite the opposition to be part of this success story. After all, this is our common state. We are all stakeholders.

Yoruba Nation: Governor Adeleke Takes Pre-emptive Security Measures, Appeals for Dialogue

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO - 13/04/2024 - osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has directed pre-emptive security measures around government structures in Osun State to forestall any copycat occurrence of alleged takeover by suspected Yoruba nation activists.

As the incident at Government Secretariat was ongoing, Governor Adeleke directed his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mr Samuel Ojo to ensure immediate mobilization of joint security teams to secure the State Government Secretariat, the Government House, and other strategic government buildings including the headquarters of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC).

In line with the Governor's directive, security men and women were deployed to identified locations yesterday to ensure the Oyo State incident is not repeated at Osogbo, the Osun State Capital.

Governor Adeleke while issuing the directive called for rededication to the ideals of a united Nigeria with ongoing constitutional amendments to ensure a truly federal system in Nigeria.

He urged agitators to join the crusade for the reform of the federal system to ensure adjustments that give the states more autonomy and responsibilities.

According to the Governor, Nigerian problems can only be resolved by dialogue within the constitutional framework, citing ongoing constitutional amendments that are restoring more powers to the states.

He cited the movement of railways and electricity from exclusive to concurrent legislative list, noting that even the United States of America is still reforming her federal system.

“I associate with my brother, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde. I urge the agitators to sheath their swords. We must continue to try to realize the Nigeria of our dreams.

“We must support President Tinubu as he drives the federal reform efforts. We have a duty to stand by Mr President in the realization of this difficult national assignment.”, Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying.

RE: GOV. ADELEKE HAS BROKEN HIS PROMISE TO US . OSUN WORKERS.

Our attention has been drawn to a delusional and misleading report purportedly issued by a faceless, baseless and non-existent Trade Union Affiliate claiming to be a group of workers in Osun State. For the avoidance of doubts, we would like to state categorically and constitutionally that the said elements, *"Osun Workers Union"* (OWU or KUTA) as they paraded themselves are not known to any of the two recognized Labour Centers *(Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC)* existing in Nigeria.

We would have allowed their fallacy to pass and disregard it as our members chose and know their leaders, most importantly the good works of Mr. Governor and his team.

Contrary to the false claims of the unfounded jesters that the *talk and do Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke* has not been paying the agreed Wage Award Palliative to the Serving and Retired workers in the State. We wish to confirm that the government has not at any point in time defaulted in payment of the Wage Award since December 2023 when the payment commenced till date. We are aware that the little delay in March payment was due to a glitch in the designated bank that was supposed to effect the payment. Upon resolving the issue, Osun State Government Serving and Retired Workers are already receiving the alert to that effect.

It is also worthy of note that Governor Adeleke has been paying Half Salary Arrears on a monthly basis to workers who retired under the Contributory Pension Scheme who are yet to receive their bonds. This he did to keep the souls and bodies of this category of workers alive in his own volition.

We must reiterate the fact that His Excellency, *IMOLE Himself*, has kept to his promise of quarterly payments of this half salary to all workers in the State. He has paid that of the first quarter of the Year 2024, and we are just in the first of the three months of the second quarter, we are confident that he will also pay as usual that of this quarter and subsequent ones.

Finally, we urge our members to disregard the fabrications of these disgruntled elements as all they have said remains filament of their weird imagination and their paymasters. We know them, and their antics as we move gradually to another electioneering cycle in Osun State, more and more of such false claims should be expected. We can't forget so soon that propaganda is their stock of trade.

We appeal to Mr. Governor to continue on his good gestures towards Osun Workers and the populace at large. His Excellency should stay focused and not to be distracted by these unscrupulous fake elements. We wish to confirm once again the unalloyed supports of the entire Workforce in Osun State and to state without mincing words that as long as he continues to put smiles on our faces, nothing will ever make us look back. Osun Workers are very pleased and at home with his administration.

Signed:

Comrade (Dr.) Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo Chairman, NLC

You lied, Adeleke's commitment to workers' welfare is unbroken, Says Osun Government

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO– 12/04/2024– Osunstate.gov.ng

The Osun State Government has dismissed a recent statement credited to a faceless and non-existing group under the aegis of the Osun Workers Union on the alleged delay in the payment of wage awards to some categories of civil servants as a rant of political jobbers, saying those behind the lies are the same characters that treated the welfare of workers with disgust in the past.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the Osun State Government said the approach of disguising as workers to play cheap politics is insulting to the understanding and hard-working workforce in the state, considering the horrible experience they suffered in the hands of those feigning concerns over their welfare.

Oluomo Alimi who observed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is being hunted by the conscience of its past failures, particularly in terms of the welfare of workers and pensioners, noted that contrary to the wrong impression it tried to paint in the minds of the innocent members of the public, Governor Ademola Adeleke has shown sincere commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners, more than any administration since the creation of Osun state in 1991.

Part of Alimi’s statement on the spurious allegations of the baseless and faceless Osun Workers Union, acting the script of an opposition party in the state reads thus:

"While we agree with the role of the opposition in holding the government accountable, we, however, take exception to the deceptive approach of the APC on the welfare of workers in the state.

“Contrary to the lies inherent in the statement conveyed through a non-existing workers group, we must inform the public that the wage award of some categories of workers has already been paid for days now.

"Delays for those remaining are a result of network issues with banks and public holidays, and efforts are already underway to get the issues sorted out.

“It is unfortunate that this is what the APC sees as what to play politics with when it is on record that it did not only default in special emoluments, which the wage award represents but basic entitlements of not just workers but pensioners.

"We believe that Osun people can still recall the agonizing pains that workers and pensioners went through under the APC-led government in getting their benefits. At a point, Osun became a poor reference in the whole country as workers and pensioners were reduced to begging for gifts and donations from individuals and bodies to survive.

"The most recent experience of the APC inhuman treatment of workers and pensioners was the failure of Mr Gboyega Oyetola, the former governor, to implement the financial implications of promotion he gave to workers– and that lasted over three years. It was the same Governor Adeleke who intervened by cash-backing this worker's benefit.

"Between when Governor Adeleke took office and now, he has paid five months out of the 30 months half salaries owed by the APC administration. Governor Adeleke has also expended billions of naira on bonds for pensioners on the contributory pension and settled benefits of pensioners on the old scheme among others.

"It is also worth noting that, Governor Adeleke enrolled the entire retirees in the state on healthcare coverage, popularly known as Osun Health Insurance Scheme ( OHIS) to make sure that pensioners no longer have to worry about the burden of managing their health. Osun, consequently, became the first state in Nigeria to give such coverage to pensioners.

"All of these go to show a strong commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners and Governor Adeleke is not departing from this path.

“To lend credence to this and others, Pensioners in the State unanimously conferred an award of Excellence on Mr Governor as a way of showing their gratitude and appreciation. In the same vein, the entire body of workers under the umbrella of the Nigeria Labour Congres, NLC, conferred an award of Excellence on Mr Governor as the Most Worker Friendly Governor in Osun State.

"Instead of the APC becoming restless, taking every issue about Governor Adeleke's administration as a ground for its cheap and unproductive politics of *pull him down* at all cost syndrome running in their veins, we enjoin the party, not to always throw caution to the winds out of envy and hatred for the success stories of Ademola Adeleke led government, but be magnanimous enough in acknowledging and apologizing to the people of Osun for the unimaginable damages it caused the state during its 4 years inglorious reign.

"If the APC cares about the welfare of workers, why did it leave a humongous N76bn pension and wage-related debt? Why did it fail to pay the promotion benefits of workers for years until Governor Adeleke came on board to commence payment to that effect ?"

Oluomo Alimi enjoined the public to stop paying any attention to the Osun APC, with its penchant for telling and concocting lies including disguising itself as a non-existing workers' group, saying that "If there is still any honor left among the ruinous elements, there is no way those who made workers and pensioners go through hell, which led to the death of some, to concoct lies about a government that is prioritizing the welfare of workers and pensioners, which it fumbled greatly while in charge."

Ilesa Accident: Governor Adeleke Approves Expansion of Ilbodi-Ilesa Road, Creation of Trailer Park

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO- 12/04/2025- osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to rehabilitate and widen the Ibodi-Ilesa road at Ilesa to forestall incessant accidents that have claimed lives in recent times.

The State Governor has also directed the Commissioner for Transportation to consider the creation of a trailer park in the area to stop multiple parking of trailers that has endangered lives of road users alongside the area.

Governor Adeleke issued the above directives while receiving the report of a Committee he set up after the unfortunate accident that claimed the life of a female staff of the University of Ilesa.

While condoling the family of the victim again, Mr Governor endorsed the compensation package already agreed between the owner of the truck and the family of the deceased even as he regretted that no amount of monetary compensation can replace the loss of a precious life.

While also approving creation of regulations to govern trucking activities along the said road, the State Governor warned companies operating in the state to be mindful of the question of safety and security of their host communities.

“We are putting stiff regulations in place to prevent recurrence of such sad incidents in the future. The Ministry of Works will work on expanding the road and the Ministry of Transportation will develop a trailer park.

“Parking of trailers on that narrow road is hereby prohibited. Speed limit should also be enforced with immediate effect”, Mr Governor so further directed.

Submitting his report earlier, the Committee Chairman who is also the Commissioner for Transportation, Hon Sesan Oyedele narrated the visitation of the Committee members to the families of the deceased, the affected company and the management of the University of Ilesa.

“ We commiserated with the family and negotiated with the grieving family. We concluded a settlement under very difficult conditions. We conveyed Your Excellency's heartfelt sympathy to the affected family”, the Commissioner told Mr Governor.

Osun PDP Says APC Paranoid over Adeleke's Performance, Lists Multiple Pro-People Projects, Programmes

PRESS RELEASE

OSOGBO -09/04/2024 - Osunpdp.com

Osun chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described recent press releases from the opposition as “a demonstration of desperation, disappointment and depression at the superlative performance of Governor Ademola Adeleke, leading to blind fabrication of fake news, false figures and outright lying.

In a statement issued on Tuesday at Osogbo, the ruling party noted about five press releases from the opposition littered with falsehood and barely disguised anger at great developments in Osun State and advised the opposition to toe the path of honour by conceding defeat even before the 2026 election.

The government noted that from the reactions and conduct of the state APC, Governor Adeleke has clearly overwhelmed the opposition and that the reactive strategy of dishing out propaganda and deliberate misinformation has further reduced the opposition approval rating to below 10 percent with that of Mr Governor at super high level.

The statement posited that across Osun state and in all the sectors, Governor Adeleke is making significant impact which is acknowledged by residents and non-residents and which has earned the Governor many unsolicited awards from several reputable media and non-governmental platforms, urging the opposition to accept that at near mid-term, Governor Adeleke has surpassed its records of between 2018 to 2022.

Within one and half years in office, Governor Adeleke has delivered what the former Government cannot achieve in four years and within the same period, the current government has ignited massive development never contemplated in education, heath, water , infrastructure and workers welfare.

"A party which failed to pay half salary debt and pension arrears while in office is not ashamed to point accusing fingers at an Adeleke government that is clearing all those debts and uplifting the living conditions of workers and pensioners.

"A party under whose watch several pensioners died is reprehensibly attacking an Adeleke government that is not only paying pensioners regularly alongside the debt but has also enrolled all those pensioners in state health insurance schemes to cater for their health needs.

"An Osun APC that wickedly abandoned several roads and building projects is today having the temerity to challenge an Adeleke government that has completed several of such projects, saving billions of naira of state funds from waste and demonstrating that a government is a continuum.

"A party that failed woefully for four years has not learnt any lesson, hence its dishonorable lies about a federal school feeding programme which the Federal Government stopped to allow for investigation into a multi-billion naira fraud.

"It is shocking that a failed party and desperate operatives cannot devise a more positive approach to opposition activism than to raise false flags, spread fake news and dish out disinformation which constantly backfires and further paint the opposition as a party that should be resoundingly rejected in the 2026 governorship election.

"We submit further that only an enemy of the people, only a party of failed records will not see the over 90 kilometers of roads constructed across the 30 local governments and area council, the completed Ikirun-Osogbo road (phase1), the completed ring road at Osogbo, the several completed school rehabilitation, the water projects currently being enjoyed by the people, the ongoing rehabilitation of several water works across the state, the several health intervention projects among others.

"Only a party that is doomed for failure in 2026 will deny the massive construction ongoing in Osun State from the flyover to road dualisation which several visitors confirmed has turned Osun into a huge construction site.

"Osun is proud of a Governor Adeleke who refused to draw security votes and instead directed that such funds should be channeled to the development of the state.

"Osun is proud of his Governor who promised workers’ welfare as a first line charge and has remained faithful to that pledge since he assumed office.

"Osun is full of praise for a Governor Adeleke who met a derelict Governor's office but uplifted it; who met a run down Government House but upgraded it; who met an abandoned VIP Guest House but redesigned and completed it within a record time.

"Osun is in love with a Governor who is tasking himself and all appointees on the implementation of ongoing multi-billion naira infra plan that is designed to address the inherited 80 percent infrastructure deficit.

"If in one and half years in office, Governor Adeleke has delivered so much, Osun people are clearly proud of their decision to vote out Mr Oyetola in 2022 and their anticipated decision to re-elect Governor Adeleke in 2026."

Governor Adeleke Tasks Ibadan Disco on Power Supply to Osun, Unveils Power Sector Agenda

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO- 06/04/2024 - Osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has tasked Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company IBEDC to urgently resolve the crisis of irregular power supply just as he unveiled the power sector agenda for the state.

The Governor made this known when he met the Managing Director of IBEDC in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

Addressing the management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company IBEDC at a private meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke described Osun as a critical stakeholder in the Nigerian power sector with Osogbo hosting the National Transmission Control Centre. He said it is therefore unacceptable that the State will be having epileptic power supply, the situation which the Governor stressed has been affecting local economy and businesses badly.

Apart from the fact that power outages contribute to growing insecurity, the Governor harped on the extortion of customers through transformer procurement, estimated billing that exploits the consumers and inability of some residents of the state to buy energy due to the old metering system.

To this effect, Senator Adeleke said Osun is already working to enact the State's Electricity System Law that will enable it to set up a Power Sector Regulatory Agency with a view to ensuring that people of Osun State are properly served within IBEDC franchise areas.

“As a Government, we are already working to enact the Osun Electricity system law. We will be setting up a power sector regulatory agency. We will introduce off grid options and widen alternative energy sources”, Mr Governor posited. In his own remark, Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun called on the distribution company to cooperate with the Osun State government so that the firm will be able to carry out its business smoothly while residents of the state will also have value for the money being paid for energy consumption.

Responding, the Managing Director of IBEDC, Mr. Kingsley Achiefe appreciated the Governor for the interface saying the firm is also ready to collaborate with Osun State Government with a view to serving their customers better.

According to him, the epileptic power supply in Osun State was caused by the drop in power generation.

He said out of the 1600 megawatts of electricity required to power Osun State, the firm is currently receiving less than 400 megawatts of energy from the generation companies.

He identified vandalisation of energy installations and energy theft through bypassing of meters as some of the challenges causing the firm to lose revenue adding that many of the about 2800 transformers that are in Osun State are old and faulty.

He called on the state government to assist the company to stop the ugly trend of illicit and illegal meters where people buy meters from other States, bringing such surreptitiously into the state and vending for energy from another state.

The Governor has therefore set up a committee with Commissioner for Energy, Honorable Fetus Adéyemo, Commissioner for Finance, Hon Shola Ogungbile, Commissioner for Rural Development, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Power, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Hon. Hezekiah Olabamiji and representative of the private sector, Mr. Tayo Adegbemle who is an energy analyst.

The committee's terms of reference include facilitating early passage of the draft Electricity bill, addressing issues impeding regular power supply, promoting embedded power alternative, resolving the issue of debt owed IBDC, and fashioning ways and means of securing energy infrastructure across the state.
