Governor Adeleke is not the Organiser of Osun Osogbo Festival- Spokesperson

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO- 31/07/2024- Osunstate.gov.ng

Our attention has again been drawn to a fake news circulating alleging engagement of consultants for the Osun Osogbo festival by Governor Ademola Adeleke

We seek to clarify clearly that neither the State Governor nor the state government is the orgniser of Osun Osogbo festival.

The Ataoja - in- Council is the organiser while the role of the state is just financial and logistics support to ensure successful outing. This has been the practice from time immemorial.

The State Governor is not involved in the engagement of consultants for the festival. The Ataoja - in- Council is the mandate holder for putting the event together including the hiring and firing of professionals for the event.

It is fake news to insinuate as some have done that the State Governor engaged consultants of whatever extraction for the organisation of the event. This is a lie from the pit of hell.

We urge the public to disregard the merchants of falsehood spreading lies and distorted reports about the Osun Osogbo festival.

Those who need information on Osun Osogbo are directed to reach out to the Ataoja -in- Council.

OSUN STATE GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO ASSET RECOVERY.

NEWS RELEASE

●Retrieves Vehicles from Ex-Amotekun Field Commander.

OSOGBO-30/07/2024 -Osunstate.gov.ng

The Asset Recovery Committee set up by the state government has commenced retrieval of state assets illegally charted away by top officials of the previous administration.

The Committee under the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye started field operations yesterday after compliance with required due process as required by law and in compliance with its mandate.

On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, the Osun State government inaugurated a special Asset Recovery Task Force to reclaim government project vehicles and other assets taken by officials of the previous administration.

This initiative followed the release of a white paper from the Asset Recovery Committee, which was established by Governor Ademola Adeleke through an executive order on November 27, 2022, the day of his inauguration.

The task force was mandated to "ensure immediate recovery" of the assets. During the inauguration, Head of Service Mr. Ayanleye Aina who represented Governor Ademola Adeleke emphasized the committee’s role in implementing the asset recovery report and retrieving the assets taken by officials of the previous administration.

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye held a press conference in Osogbo where he reaffirmed the government's commitment to recovering properties believed to have been misappropriated by political appointees of the former Adegboyega Oyetola administration.

Igbalaye stressed that the Asset Recovery Task Force was not intended to target individuals but to recover all misappropriated assets.

He explained that the Task Force was scrutinizing which vehicles and assets were lawfully taken and which were not. According to Igbalaye, under the previous administration, political appointees could retain their official vehicles if they had served at least two years, paid a specified amount to the government, and if the vehicle was less than four years old, paid 10% of its residual value.

However, the Task Force determined that while the previous Executive Governor's approvals for vehicle releases followed due process, a letter from the former Head of Service allowing political appointees to keep their vehicles was deemed illegal.

Igbalaye dismissed claims from the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) that the asset recovery efforts were vindictive, asserting that all government assets and vehicles not legally retained by the previous administration’s officials must be recovered.

In an effort to carry out its mandate, the task force paid a visit to the residence of the immediate past Osun Amotekun Field Commander, Comrade Amitolu Shittu in the early hours of Monday, 29th July, 2024, recovering three vehicles illegally possessed by him.

It should be put on record that the operation conducted at Amitolu’s residence was a lawful and necessary measure to retrieve vehicles and assets unlawfully retained by him from his tenure as the Osun Amotekun Field Commander.

During his term, Amitolu was known to have illegally possessed several vehicles that belonged to the government, which had not been returned despite repeated requests.

It is important to note that the operation was conducted in accordance with legal protocols and was intended to recover these assets for the benefit of the state. The involvement of the Osun Security Joint Task Force (JTF) and Amotekun Corps was part of a coordinated effort to ensure the recovery process was handled efficiently and securely.

Amitolu's claim of the exercise being a violation of privacy and an act of political persecution is a smokescreen to divert attention from his own legal and ethical breaches.

His assertions that the operation was a premeditated attempt to silence him are baseless and reflect his attempt to politicize a straightforward asset recovery process.

Moreover, the vehicles in question were clearly documented as state property, and there is substantial evidence to support their recovery. Amitolu's challenge to provide documents and his threat to seek legal redress are attempts to obfuscate the clear facts and delay justice.

The government’s actions were fully justified, and the call for scrutiny by security agencies should be directed towards ensuring transparency in all operations, including those involving Amitolu's activities.

This recovery effort is part of a broader commitment to accountability and good governance, which the state administration remains dedicated to upholding.

In the same vein, all the Service Chiefs comprising the Nigeria Police, Army, DSS, Immigration, Correctional Centre, Civil Defence, Air Force and Road Safety among others at the meeting were also unanimous in their contributions to deflate any tendency to make the protests assume the toga of hooliganism and other untoward acts of unbridled lawlessness, stressing that, anyone caught will be made to face the music.

Members of the Civil Society Organizations and other Non Governmental Organizations on whose premise the dialogue was called for, in their different remarks, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke and his administration for providing the forum for such a dialogue, sequel to the kick off of the nationwide protests throughout Nigeria on Thursday. Accordingly, they all endorsed the need to abide by all the terms of agreements reached at the meeting, which basically centred on achieving a violent free protests in Osun State, during the coming nationwide protests .

Earlier in his address of welcome,Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, dismissed the notion in some quarters ,that Governor Adeleke called for the meeting in order to grease the palms of the CSO and other Comrades/Activists to dissuade them from being effective in the protest, While describing the allegations as completely baseless and mischievous, Oluomo Alimi commended the CSO members and other Activists for their large turnout, saying they are genuine activists for being bold and courageous enough to attend the meeting, despite pressures in some quarters to do otherwise. The Information Commissioner maintained that, the dialogue with them was borne out of the good intentions of Governor Adeleke to make the planned protests completely free of brigandage and lawlessness in Osun State.

ADELEKE'S CHIEF OF STAFF NOT A DIRECTOR OF AKINKAS INTERBIZ LTD

A circulating fake news making the rounds on social media is a lie from the pit of hell as the Chief of Staff to the Osun State Governor, Hon Kazeem Akinkeye is not a director of Akinkas Interbiz Limited.

The company that is executing a contract of TETFUND at the Osun State University does not have Hon Akinleye as a Director as can be verified from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Hon Akinleye resigned from the company as a Director on September 1st, 2022 soon after he was appointed the Chief of Staff to Mr Governor.

The said company has not and is not handling any state contract. Rather the contract in question is a federal job within the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for which the company has all legal rights to handle.

We therefore urged members of the public to ignore the fake news which was designed to distract the state from its delivery of good governance.

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO - 28/07/2024 - Osunstate.gov.ng

In a directive handed down on Sunday morning, the state Governor instructed his team members to reach out to representatives of various civil society groups and student bodies for a dialogue session on the state of the economy.

Stressing the importance of dialogue in state governance, the State Governor further requested key commanders of Police and other security services to attend the session where stakeholders will be free to make recommendations on grievances and expected responses from government at all levels.

“I have instructed my team to organise a dialogue session on Monday where stakeholders can jaw jaw as part of peacemaking in the exercise of constitutional rights. The session will afford parties to list grievances and what they expect the government at all levels to do.

“ We will convey outcomes of the session to government leaders from myself to Mr President in Abuja. It will also be an opportunity to tell stakeholders what we are doing as a government to resolve the economic hardship facing our people”, the Governor was quoted as saying.

Governor Adeleke Has Neither Borrowed a Kobo Nor Draw Personal Security Votes - Spokesperson

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO - 26/07/2024 - Osunstate.gov.ng Governor Ademola Adeleke is governing Osun State without borrowing a single kobo and without drawing any security votes, Spokesperson to the State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has clarified.

He made the clarifications in response to questions from reporters who quoted some opposition figures alleging the state Governor of increasing Osun debt and of accessing security votes to the tune of billions of naira.

Mr Rasheed attributed such allegations to pure mischief, ignorance of public finance and deliberate misinterpretation of state data, noting that Governor Adeleke is pursuing his many governance initiatives within the confines of available resources from federal allocations and internally generated revenue.

According to the Spokesperson, the state Governor is achieving so much through fiscal discipline, deliberate curtailing of overhead cost and widening of revenue nets, all which resulted in fiscal and financial health of the state.

Mr Rasheed posited that opposition figures displayed ignorance by ignoring the impact of the exchange rate crisis on the inherited external debt stock of Osun State, explaining that the weak naira increased the naira value of the state debt stock.

“The Debt Management Office is the national debt data repository. According to the DMO, Osun owed foreign lenders the sum of $91,779,393.97 as of December 31, 2022, and by December 31, 2023, the external debt profile of Osun stood at $87,247,488.51.

“From the figures above, Osun's external debt dropped. The noticeable difference in the naira value of Osun external debt was due to the significant devaluation of naira. In 2022, a dollar averaged at N460, and so. The naira value of $91,779,393.97 Osun's external debt in 2022 was N41bn compared to 2023 when a dollar averaged N1,400, which is essentially why despite the fact that Osun debt reduced to $87,247,488.51, the naira equivalent was N78bn”, the Spokesperson narrated.

“On the allegation of security services votes included in the uploaded budget performance report, let me clarify that the subhead only referred to the cost of various security services and operations across the state which is different from the conventional concept of security votes as drawn by most state governors.

“The security service funds in the identified subhead were used among other interventions to service special peacekeeping operations, provide logistics support to quench inter communal clashes and support the operations of the different security agencies across the state”.

“The funds meant for various security related services are accessed through normal approval processes with appropriate records kept. We however firmly affirm that Mr Governor did not and is not drawing any personal security votes as is the convention before his assumption of office. This is in line with his avowed commitment to free state resources to execute his ambitious five point agenda”, the Governor’s Spokesperson noted. He described as defeatist the recent penchant of the opposition to twist state finance data to support false narration, submitting that such failed strategy confirms the opposition has run out of ideas and initiatives in the face of Governor Adeleke’s widely acknowledged exceptional performance. “ I am also my Special Adviser on Markets to move quickly to support our royal fathers in this new drive to institute traditional price control. The Iyalojas and Babalojas should be integrated into the implementation process”, the Governor directed.

Osun, Adeleke and the false flag

Osun, Adeleke and the false flag By Sarafa Ibrahim

Emotion, a well celebrated Chinese actor, Bruce Lee, warned "could be the enemy" and that "If you give into your emotion, you lose yourself." This was what quickly crossed my mind when I noticed the latest attempt by elements in the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to sowing a sense of doubt on the performance of the incumbent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, by attacking his successful billionaire brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke.

This started with Mr. Ismail Omipidan, the Spokesperson to a former Governor in the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and of recent, Misbahudeen Aonullah Ibrahim, which echoed a calculated political blackmail scheme. Well, this is not something new with the APC as anyone conversant with the party's style can very well understand this as yet a broader pattern to manipulate thoughts for political capital.

As I have been able to point out in the series of my previous articles, the Osun APC is notorious in presenting its perverse views on governance as the reality and strive so hard to force it on the public. This was exactly what Messrs Omipidan and Misbahudeen tried to do with their articles, which revolves around a conclusion Adeleke has done badly as Governor.

But that is not what the reality says especially when indices of government is put into perspective. When Governor Adeleke took over in November 2022, he inherited a struggling state, hurting badly from several years of misgovernance. Over 30–month half salary of active workers and pensioners are unpaid, five months cooperative deductions debt, and the sight of infrastructural decadence was a host of the challenges Governor Adeleke inherited.

Nearly two years in the saddle, Governor Adeleke is fixing many of this challenges. It is interesting to note that while Oyetola who happens to be Mr. Omipidan's principal, find it impossible to pay just one month out of the 30-month half salary in the 48-month of his administration, Governor has paid six-month for active workers and pensioners who have received pension benefits or bond while pensioners yet to receive bond have gotten 15-month half salary payment. Within the same period, Governor Adeleke has cleared the owed cooperative deductions by his predecessor. Only jokers will dismiss this as nothing.

But that isn't all Governor Adeleke has done in terms of welfare. Between November 2022 and now, Governor Adeleke led government has released the sum of N12,719,245,528.00 as bonds to pensioners in the state less than two years in office whereas his two predecessor, including Oyetola that Omipidan and Misbahudeen is apparently trying to sell, were only able to release N11,150,871,889.00 within a period of twelve years in office. Yes, you heard me right, Governor Adeleke did better than the combined two administration before him, and this is less than two years in office. To cap it all, Governor Adeleke enrolled the entire retirees in the state on a healthcare coverage plan, shouldering almost the entire cost of keeping them healthy at old age.

Away from this is the laudable infrastructural renewal manifest across the state. The interesting thing is that even those who had before now feign unaware are acknowledging it, although, as Mr. Omipidan tried to do, play it down with wrong assessment. The mistake I think Mr. Omipidan and most of those on his side did was failed to point out the technical flaws in any of the ongoing infrastructural project.

If there is anything, they only echoed what we have all known about them, and that is the fact that they are just bitter. It is not a secret that Oyetola failed grossly in the governance of Osun, and seeing Adeleke, who many of them had predicted was incapable, is achieving many of the things they thought was impossible. The excuse of paucity of fund is too cheap because the financial books of the state clearly indicated that the Oyetola administration had expense in excess of N400bn in the four years that his administration lasted. This was at a time that a dollar averaged N460 and inflation isn't as bad as it is currently.

In spite of the current economic situation and the challenges posed, Governor Adeleke has been making remarkable impacts for the people of the state. Take, for instance, the effort by the Adeleke administration to reposition health and education in the state. Public schools' in the were wholly renovated and equipped to enhance qualitative learning while a total of 345 primary healthcare centres across the state is receiving much needed infrastructure upgrade, which included 24-7 power supply and water system, to deliver better healthcare for the people. Yet, the Adeleke administration did not receive a $20.5 World Bank grant like the Oyetola administration did for the rehabilitation of PHCs.

By all indications, Governor Adeleke has done exceedingly well in the administration of Osun state. If people like Messrs Omipidan and Misbahudeen are still living in denial, it will not be out of place to remind them that the promotion benefit that seemed problematic to Oyetola for over three-year was resolved by Governor Adeleke less than six months in office. Not only did Governor Adeleke implemented the payment of the financial consequences of the promotion Oyetola did in 2019, he has granted a fresh fresh promotion and already implementing the financial benefits. More, it is important to stress that Osun is one of the 15 states in Nigeria that implemented wage award payments. One can easily assume that a Oyetola as Governor may find it hard to pay considering how he failed to pay the financial benefits of the promotion he granted to workers.

This now takes me to the unfounded claim by Mr. Misbahudeen on dismissal of health workers by Governor Adeleke. While I understand his desperation to impress his new friends, however, the big mistake was thinking Osun people can be so unreasonable to see through the fallacy of his claim. It is nearly two years that the APC has regurgitated the lies yet, it has not been able to show just one letter of the purportedly sacked. Osun people know well what happened and only those with distorted idea of history will try to paint an entirely different picture. Governor Adeleke cannot sack people who are not already in the public service. It is even sickening to note that Mr. Misbahudeen is trying to draw political capital from the unfortunate passing of Dr. Richard Adeoriokin. Well, he's in APC now!

It is this same mischievous intent that he showed towards the issue of O'Meal scheme. Had it been Mr. Misbahudeen is given to objectivity, he would by now have realized that O'Meal is a federal government scheme under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. It is a public knowledge that the scheme, just as many others under the Ministry, was suspended to give way for an audit following a scandal last year and nothing has been heard about it till this moment. It is interesting to note that only Osun state still maintain the scheme as a result of Governor Adeleke interest. This fact was established a few weeks ago by representatives from Abuja and foreign partners during a seminar held at Aenon Suite in Osogbo.

The most funniest thing about Mr. Misbahudeen was his wrong notion on funding for agriculture under Governor Adeleke. In one of my articles, "Osun and the horrible side of a revisionist", I pointed out the disturbing neglect that the agriculture sector experienced under the previous APC administration, which Governor Adeleke is doing everything to upturn. For instance, the total provision for agricultural sector in the 2022 budget under Oyetola was N6.7bn, however, by the time the budget performance for the second quarter was out, only a meagre N593,296,747.59 had been released, representing a disappointing 8.8% budget performance.

Interestingly, the Governor's office incurred a total expenditure of N3.01bn out of a budget of of N5.3bn, representing a 56.8% budget performance under the same period in review. It was even worse with the 2020 budget where out of N83,863,650.00 voted for the agricultural sector aside salary payment, only a meagre N6,992,500.00 was released by the end of third quarter. In the 2021 fiscal year, out of N3,313,734,560.00 provision for agriculture and food security, the actual release was N334,699,600.00, representing 13.14% performance by the third quarter.

As outlined before now, Governor Adeleke is taking up series of initiatives, which include tractorization, to boost agriculture activities in the state. If the APC administration had not mismanaged the dozens of tractors inherited from the APC administration nor blew away billions on agriculture without any tangible outcome, Osun will not be faced with the mountain of challenges that Governor Adeleke is navigating in the agriculture sector. Not only is Governor Adeleke working to solve immediate food needs of the people, he is also thinking about the future, hence, the plan to distribute cash crops seedlings, including cocoa to farmers and create the path to endless opportunities for tomorrow.

In all, Governor Adeleke has shown capacity, not excuses as we all witnessed with his predecessor. He is using the collective wealth of the people to build not just infrastructures but also implementing a broader welfare package that address past failings and bolster hopes of the future. By the way, Erin-Osun-Egbedi-Iwo road has been delivered and more other notable infrastructural projects that not only links communities but expand economic opportunities will be delivered in weeks to come. Antagonists can update their dairies or else, they will be lost forever. ▪︎ Sarafa Ibrahim is a Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Print Media and writes from Osogbo

Oyetola/Omipidan: Why Kolapo Alimi Always?

By Ismail Abdulganiyu Mastermind

I read a piece which the former Chief Press Secretary to the defeated Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan said "How Oluomo Kolapo Alimi started off as a teacher and later read law and became a lawyer... became a Commissioner when all he wanted was to become a scribe of a local government..."

It is a collective insult to teaching profession for Omipidan to describe a teacher in a disparage manner. Are teachers not human being? Are they not the bedrock of all professions? Even Omipidan was a product of teachers. Why does Omipidan, a mere opportunist, so full of himself to the extent of insulting and underestimating teachers? Or is it his hatred for Oluomo Kolapo Alimi that has made him to lose all sense of rationality? Or is it his background as an Aboki boy that is affecting his good sense of reasoning?

It is important to let him know that, there is no profession that is better than another, every discipline has its own place. However, if it is hatred for Alimi that has beclouded Omipidan sense of reasoning, I don't think he can get solution to his problem.

Oluomo Kolapo Alimi is a destiny child for greatness, any team that has him has success and progress but a team that underestimate him will head to destruction. It is this reality that Oyetola and Omipidan failed to realize that eventually consumed them.

Omipidan should know that Alimi didn't get to where he is today by accident; it was due to his hardwork and commitment that paved way for him. Aregbesola, a visionary leader saw the uniqueness of Alimi and gave him what is due to him. Even if Alimi's ambition was to become a secretary of a Local Government as claimed by Mr Ismail Omipidan; is a scribe (Secretary to the Local Government) not a human being? Does that mean a scribe cannot rise more than that position? And if Kolapo Alimi was aspiring to become the scribe of Irepodun Local Government in 2010 and the leadership of the party with the Governor, appointed him as a Commissioner for Local Government, taking into consideration his capacities and qualities, is that a crime? That same Kolapo Alimi was among the only five Commissioners that were reappointed for second term by Aregbesola, when many others like Sunday Akere were dropped. Kolapo Alimi was never part of Oyetola's Government despite his contributions to the emergence of that Government because God did not want him to be part of a failed Government of Alhaji Oyetola. Today, Kolapo Alimi is the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, the Oluomo and the Balogun Musulumi of Erin-osun.

Meanwhile, former Speaker Najeem Salam started as councilor before he rose to the position of Osun House of Assembly Speaker. So what is the crime in starting little and getting to the top? It is clear that Omipidan is just a rabble rouser with no political value in Osun, an opportunist who contributed greatly to the failure of his Master.

Mastermind writes from Osogbo

Ismail Omipidan is joyfully dancing naked at the market square.

... Stops being cynical on what you devoid of its knowledge

It is very puerile that the spokesperson to the maladministration of Mr. Oyetola who was recently rated as the most poorest of the poorest minister under the suffering and smiling and higgledy-piggledy administration of Mr. Tinubu, is ceaselessly gallivanting to bamboozle the people of the public over the administration that is enjoying smooth riding under the leadership of Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke, affectionately called Mr. Performer.

Anytime, I come across his gibberish and incoherent analysis about governance, government and political office holders, I come to realize that, Mr. Omipidan is maximizing every crooked means he knows to protect his pot of soup from his paymaster as both Omipidan and his principal are idle and devoid of a good skills to pilot the affairs of blue and marine economy ministry Mr. Oyetola, was appointed to oversee by his brother. Meanwhile, it is a plan work of Omipidan and his boss to stylishly cause distraction so that, the secret of his inability to thrive will not be revealed to the public.

So far, everything he has released had immensely exposed the lack of competence and poor performance of his principal when he had privilege to govern the state even as a minister now. His vituperation and browbeating towards the political office holders under Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke's administration, is an attestation that, he is envying the good jobs done in a very short period of time that his failed master could not achieve in four years which can be described as wasted time in the office as governor. He is also trying to get himself engaged as he has not been doing anything meaningful with his dormant principal in the compensated office and sharpening his skill to write a good thesis for his PhD.

It is only those who don't know him will take him serious for once, as he keeps jettisoning the good performances of the current administration and destroying himself on every article, thinking he can beguile the populace and cause distraction so as to cover the weakness and lack of leadership skills of his boss who failed woefully in both elected and appointed offices he has held so far.

I want to urge every reasonable citizen of Osun-state and Nigeria as a whole to despise every release from his quarters as he has recently become a celebrated loose cannon journalist writing from political exiles to disrupt the good governance that his boss was impotent to run. He is so daft and wicked to write to their leader who is suffering the masses and wabbling the economy but very scandalous and marred to embark on unconstructive criticism and revilement of a government thriving despite the nationwide economy downturn.

Ismail Omipidan: A Reflection Of A lackey Subordinate Who Served Under the Administration of a poorly performed Former Gov and lowly rated Federal Minister, Oyetola.

OSOGBO 22/7/2024 Osunstate gov.ng

It is surprising to note that, Mr Ismail Omipidan, someone who once served as Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is showing ignorance on the structure of office of the Governor, which he was part of, for the almost four years that his paymaster, Oyetola governed Osun state poorly.

We have also read, unbelievably, how Omipidan displayed ignorance by mischievously stating that the budget earmarked for the office of the Governor, "is being used to eat food" by no less a well loved and performing administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Premised on these false allegations and assumptions by Mr Omipidan, the need to lucidly and carefully educate him on the nuances of governance can not be over emphasized .

In the first instance, our illiterate Omipidan needs to be schooled that, there are agencies and parastatals attached to the office of the Governor to carry out one official function or the other under the official supervision and guidance of the Governor.

Omipidans lack of governmental knowhow can be likened to someone who served as the Chief Press Secretary to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but who does not know the difference between the office of the President and the Presidency.

For clarity sake, the office of the President is the office of the President while the Presidency consists of many agencies and parastatals under the direct supervision of the office of the President.

For Mr Omipidan to be found displaying lack of knowlege in this regard in relation to the Office of the Governor of Osun State which he was part of, for almost four years, no doubt portrays him as a complete ignoramus in the running of how things are officially carried out. To say the least, this is quite shameful.

To put it mildly and simply in order to up Omipidans knowlege, perhaps for the first time, he should know that the budget of office of the Governor includes that of other agencies under it. To this end,in order to compliment the day to day running of government, in Osun State, there are 9 parastatals under the official purview of the Governor's office.

They are;
1.Office of the Deputy Governor, 2.Bureau of General Services.
3. Office of the Chief of Staff
4. Bureau of Government House and Protocol
5. Bureau of Social Services
6. Parastatal Monitoring Office
7. Sustainable Development Goals Office 8. Bureau of Policy Coordination and
9. Bureau of Communication.

With Omipidan not in the know of this development until being brought to his knowledge and attention with this rejoinder, clearly shows that , he passed through the government, without government passing through him.

In addition, it must be stated that, he equally displays ignorance for him not to know that all the aforementioned agencies have their budgets for all the capital projects and overhead costs, including salaries of civil servants posted to those agencies, allowances and projects to be executed including political office holders salaries, among others.

Infact, Omipidan should be schooled to know that, his own office as Chief Press Secretary then, was under the Bureau of Communication, where he drew his salary from and the execution of other day to day assignments in relation to the nature of the office he held then.

As a Government that is clearly in tune with the know how of governance, we are not in anyway surprised as this ignorance exhibited by Mr Omipidan clearly and distinctly shows the poor quality of people who actually served under the government of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola as being publicly displayed also by the likes of former commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Adebayo Adeleke (Banik).

No wonder, the immediate past leader of that poorly rated administration, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola was similarly adjudged, recently, as the poorest performing Governor in the anal of the history Osun State

Against this and other let downs being ignorantly displayed both in private and public domains, we urge Mr Ismail Omipidan and other lackeys in the immediate past Oyetola administration to stop exhibiting ignorance to the public in such a disdainfully disgraceful manner.

There's no crime in asking if one is at a loss concerning how certain things are being done or carried out. At least, some few intelligent brain's in that Administration could readily come to mind, people like the duo of Dr Oyebade Olowogboyega who served the administration as the Head of Service and Professor Yinusa Olalekan, who was the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget, and Development.

We suggest that, the likes of Omipidan and *Banik* of this world in that administration should have swallowed their pride, ego and ignorance to be properly educated by the duo of Dr Olowogboyega and Professor Yinusa, rather than the ridicule and shame they have subjected themselves to in recent times.

We advise and reiterate the need for the leaders and members of the immediate past administration of *Mr Oyetola* to continue to see the good and beauty of a government without borrowing from no quarter in the less than two years as being displayed by the *High Speed" people's Governor and Performer, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke .

The unprecedented developments being witnessed here and there throughout the state are eloquent testimony to the fact that the people of Osun state have not made a mistake in the collective choice of *Mr Performer*as their 6th democratically elected Governor .

For a Governor that collects no security vote but all out, at all times, using the little resources accruing to the state judiciously, what else does Omipidan and his likes are always out to achieve by their mischiefs and shenanigans ?

Finally, notwithstang Omipidans *Pull Him Down* syndrome which has become his stock in trade in the last two years when the people of Osun State voted Oyetola out with their wise votes, we seize this platform, once again, to reiterate the commitment of the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke on transparency, accountability and delivery of good governance to the people of Osun state.

Adeleke University Holds Convocation as Governor Advocates Devolutions, Tasks Graduands to Tap into Economic Turbulence to Build Prosperous Life

NEWS RELEASE

Adeleke University Holds Convocation as Governor Advocates Devolutions, Tasks Graduands to Tap into Economic Turbulence to Build Prosperous Life OSOGBO- 20/07/2024 - Osunstate.gov.ng

The Adeleke University, Ede today held its tenth undergraduate and sixth postgraduate convocation programme at its newly built stadium which is named after Alhaji Sanni.

The Pro-Chancellor of the University and Chairman of its Governing Council, Dr Adedeji Adeleke in his address unveiled the new stadium named after the late husband of Yeyeluwa Dupe Adeleke -Sanni, eulogizing the frontline role played by the deceased in the building of the university.

The Pro-Chancellor whose lecture centered on keeping hope alive in a turbulent economy also announced automatic employment for all first class engineering graduates by the Pacific Energy Limited at either its Ogun or Ondo plants.

Addressing graduates, Dr Adeleke tasked them to sustain hope in the time tested reality that hard times will surely pass, warning that under no circumstances should they lose hope of a better tomorrow.

To survive under the current harsh economic era, the pro-Chancellor urged the graduating students to adopt humility and respect for all categories of people as it can earn them what they are not even qualified for.

According to Dr Adeleke, humility can reduce obstacles on the way to success and fast tracked acceptance even where the road appears blocked.

Citing examples of how humility aided his securing the Pacific Merchants Bank license under former military President Ibrahim Babangida, the Pro-Chancellor narrated how respect and humility assisted him in business and human relations.

“You need to be humble in this hard time so your destiny helpers can find you. Respect for the high and the low is a potent weapon which can smooth the rough edges”, he told the convocation audience.

In his separate address, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke called on the young graduates to see opportunities in the current economic turbulence bedeviling Nigeria, noting that the Nigerian system presents multiple options for those with entrepreneurial mindset.

Senator Adeleke tasked the graduates to be innovative and enterprising, assuring that government at all levels are working hard to address the perilous state of the economy.

"At the National Economic Council meetings, both the Federal and State Governments regularly brainstorm on finding solutions to the economic hardship, unemployment, and hyperinflation facing the nation. Several options are being experimented on". The Governor said.

"For us as a State, we believe the solution lies in the devolution of powers and financing to the state governments".

Senator Adeleke identified focus on economic federalism as a panacea to deepening subnational prosperity and creating an enabling environment for job creation adding that stakeholders must boost local capacity across the sectors.

The Governor added that "we must continue to maintain national stability and unity. We can not escape the several issues facing us as a nation unless we harness our potential across the regions. But only when there is peace can we resolve the economic question".

The Governor added that his administration will continue to support President Bola Tinubu as all levels of government grapple with the crisis at the moment.

While commending the Pro Chancellor of Adeleke University, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke for setting a record in national education philanthropy, Senator Adeleke disclosed that 70 percent of the students in the faith based University are on scholarship as his own unique way of giving back to society

"The Pro Chancellor targets indigent students for scholarship as his own unique way of giving back to society".

He described the gesture of Dr. Deji Adeleke as a clarion call on well to do Nigerians saying people must give back to society by supporting economically weak residents to get educated.

"For every challenged student we support, an anti-poverty agent is being raised. For every sponsored student, several families are billed to exit the poverty circle. Rich Nigerians must, therefore, prioritize education philanthropy”, Governor Adeleke noted.

Osun Osogbo and Clarifications for Bobagunwa Oyeyemi

By Olawale Rasheed

Our highly respected senior colleague, Bobagunwa Remi Oyeyemi just penned an article that indirectly accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of an igbonisation agenda in the governance of Osun state. This little piece would not have been necessary but because Bobagunwa's piece is already in public domain.

The post by our tested media chief identified two examples namely an interview by the Governor in Igbo language granted the BBC Igbo service. The second one was a letter on trademark issues concerning the coverage of the upcoming Osun Osogbo festival from a consultant engaged by the palace of Ataoja of Osogbo, the organizer of Osun Osogbo. In both cases, the writer in very strong language, insinuated disrespect for Yoruba culture and people by the State Governor.

With all due respect, it appears our old boss did not dig deeper into the matter well to get the total picture before rushing to conclusions. The hasty insinuation of Igbonisation was built on false narratives and a misunderstanding of the mandate holder with respect to Osun Osogbo. A phone call to friends of Bobagunwa in government would have shed more light on the matter and ensure informed commentary.

Let me start with the Igbo interview on BBC. Governor Adeleke had granted several interviews on BBC Yoruba. He has talked to several media platforms in Yoruba language including key radio stations in Osun State. How Bobagunwa did not listen to any of those interviews except the Igbo BBC interview is puzzling.

Is there a crime for a state Governor whose mother is Igbo granting an interview to Igbo BBC service? What was he saying in the interview? Mr Governor was narrating what he met on ground and how he is delivering good governance in Osun State. Is that wrong? Don't we have Igbo voters in Osun State? Don't we have Osun indigenes across Igbo land? Considering Bobagunwa's cosmopolitan outlook, he was evidently wrong on this note.

On the allegation that an Igbo media consultant was engaged to handle the Osun Osogbo event, certain clarifications are pertinent here. First, the Osun State Government is not the organizer of Osun Osogbo. The palace of Ataoja is the custodian. Mr Oyeyemi can reconfirm this reality.

It is baseless and disrespectful to our royal father to allege that the Governor teleguided the palace to appoint an Igbo man as consultant. These are wild, unfounded accusations. The Palace of Ataoja is the custodian of Osun Osogbo. The role of the state government is mostly supportive in terms of financing and logistics support.

Much more important is the content of the letter in question. If the organizer of an event has trademarked and copyrighted content as the Palace of Ataoja has done, the best the government can do is to intervene where necessary to ensure free media, free speech and observance of fundamental rights of the citizens if such are infringed or likely to be tampered with. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is due to make a statement on the matter.

I however found it strange that Mr Oyeyemi could level such strong allegations without seeking or knowing the full truth. He crafted his piece as an accuser and judge without any pretense to fair trial. The only Igbo man serving as Adviser in the state government was born and bred here at Osogbo with thriving businesses employing many families. He is not even a cabinet member.

There is no basis or justification for the false flag of Igbonisation raised by Mr Oyeyemi. The two points mentioned are simply twisted to portray alleged favoritism for Igbo people where there is none.

In the case of Mr Governor, he is too urbane, open minded, nationalistic and detribalised to engage in such frivolity. Bobagunwa himself can testify to that reality.

Osun Transformation: Dr Deji Adeleke is Proud of His Brother

Osun Transformation: Dr Deji Adeleke is Proud of His Brother By Mallam Olawale Rasheed

Intellectual pursuit and excellence are traditionally built on empirical facts. When acts are deliberately twisted to achieve partisan goals, the public, the citizenry, immediately identifies intellectual deceit and a prelude to a likely jaundiced academic thesis.

Applied to the public space and as facts are sacred, governance analysis from dispassionate analysts, uninjured commentators and unemotional observers convinced Dr Deji Adeleke, the patriarch of the Adeleke dynasty, that his brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is delivering to his expectations and that of the voting public. That same view is held by many Nigerians.

A reading of some articles including one by a journalist, Ismail Omipidan raises the imperative of fact checks. I will first submit that the writer's justification for calling out Dr Deji Adeleke is flawed and based on false citations as all the four points raised are based on equally false narratives promoted by the opposition. And I will dissect the issues one by one.

First is the Akoda-Ede road which he claimed was awarded prior to the commencement of the multi-billion naira infra programme. We repeat with verifiable facts that this assertion is false. The Akoda road was only undergoing pothole patching under the 100 days programme before its inclusion in the infra programme. It must be stressed that the road was advertised in a Nigerian Tribune publication of August 2023, which clearly fault the jaundice postulation of Mr. Omipidan.

As for timing of project completion, the infra plan was unveiled in December, completion date is December 2024. And as for quality of work, the contractor has the next five months to complete its work. Hence any judgment on work quality is mere political propaganda, especially when it is coming from someone with no background in engineering to be able to make a technical assessment.

The writer and the opposition may want to know that Oke fia, Lameco and other infra projects are going ahead as planned under strict monitoring and evaluation and with the best of quality assurance.

Equally, a debunked lie now repeated with sugar coat is the allegation that the Governor budgeted Fifteen Billion Naira for his office and only three billion naira for the agriculture sector with only One Hundred and Eighty Million Naira disbursement. The public is fully aware that the Governor’s Office has several agencies including the service-wide general services office. Hence, the said fund is not in any way meant directly for Mr Governor. Even at that, the total allocation for that unit is less than half of what purveyors of lies are dishing out.

Relatedly, the agricultural sector is receiving full attention than the opposition would want to acknowledge. Under the administration that the writer served, agriculture received the most embarrassing funding, to the point that less than N10m was spent in the entire sector outside payment of salary in one fiscal year.

Under the Adeleke administration, tractorization, access to fertilizers, agropreneurs' Incubation programmes, food security sub-sectoral initiatives, revival of farm settlements, cashew and cocoa seedlings project among others are special programmes the administration is implementing within the agricultural sector. It is a lie that only N180 million has so far been released to the agricultural sector.

For the teachers' recruitment and Imole Youth Corps, this administration is a government with a focus on programme sustainability and seamless delivery. With minimum wage matters being sorted out and with all budgetary questions resolved, the administration is fully ready for implementation. Governance is a process, a fact known to even the unlettered.

Another disgraceful lie is allegations of delay in sharing palliatives from the Federal Government. The first phase of the rice palliative was handled by a non-governmental committee and the second phase was shared across various interest groups alongside those rice equally purchased by the state government. In fact, the writer's party received from the palliatives disbursement by the Adeleke administration and we dare him to fault this assertion with fact.

For the Two Billion Naira palliative, it was clearly pointed out that it was deployed on additional food items, transport sector, wage awards with the state government adding further funding. The total cost of the wage award expended by this government was Three Billion naira at Ten Thousand Naira for pensioners and Fifteen Thousand Naira for workers for six months, far above what was received from the Federal Government. If the writer has forgotten, Osun people still remember how palliatives were hoarded under Oyetola administration and the public had to publicly loot the warehouse. Governor Adeleke has no such records and the public can attest to it.

Having clearly proven that all the reasons adduced by the writer for his calling out Dr Deji Adeleke are baseless, unfounded and mere concortions, let me proceed to list why the Pacific Holdings Chairman is proud of his brother, Governor Adeleke. First is the rescuing of Osun workers from bad governance, neglect and wicked wielding of state powers. From November 2022 till date, Governor Adeleke has embarked on a public sector reforms which ensure re-professionalisation of the public service, regular promotion and cash backing of promotions, payment of pensions and pension bonds, ongoing payment of half salaries owed Osun workers among many others.

For restoring normalcy and humane treatment to the public service as applauded by the public servants and their unions. It is not only Dr Deji Adeleke that is proud of his brother but the entire Osun people minus the toxic opposition appreciate the state leadership.

Another reason has to do with the silent revolution within the Osun health sector. As of today, close to 100 primary health care centers have been rehabilitated with direct provision of water and solar light. Across the state, over 150 health care centres are being built with many already completed. Selected General Hospitals are slated for upgrade while general recruitment of health workers is in the pipeline. Over 29,000 pensioners have been enrolled for free health insurance. The Governor is prioritizing preventive health care policy by strengthening access to health care for the majority of Osun residents. As Governor, Adeleke did not squander the World Bank $20.5 million dollar health care rehabilitation initiative as witnessed under the previous APC government, Dr Deji and Osun people are happy and praised God that "Demola ko ba oju wa je".

Who will not be happy with a responsive government and Governor who attended to neglected areas? The Muslim community in Osun has no Hajj camp, the only state without one in the South West. Governor Adeleke is building one for them. Osun State Broadcasting Service was left to die. Governor Adeleke procured state of the art transmitters for the stations. University of Ilesa was an audio institution when Mr Governor Adeleke took over. He gave the institution a take off grant, got almost 40 programmes accredited and ordered ongoing reconstruction of the university internal roads. Ijesa leaders were elated.

Several abandoned projects within the Osun State University were completed with new ones added. The Vice-Chancellor inherited from the Oyetola government attested to Governor Adeleke's excellent service delivery.

A Governor who initiated and is implementing a multi-sectoral, multi-billion naira infra plan is the doyen of friends and foes. Luckily, no true expert will deny the close link between good infrastructure and economic development. Seamless connectivity is at the heart of economic buoyancy. In recognition of that fact, Osun has been transformed into a huge construction site with all parts of the state tasting the delivery of good governance.

In reality, the Adeleke dynasty has every reason to thank God and the Osun people because an 18 month record has surpassed the four year tenure of some people. The public knows the leader who failed at home and shockingly away, I mean at national level.

For Dr Deji Adedeji and the entire Adeleke family, Mr Governor is a symbol of pride.

The public are aware of when someone messed up his uncle due to dismal performance as a state Governor. Even the uncle at Ajegunle on a campaign trail noted the bad show. When a review of members of the Federal Executive Council was done, bad ratings were returned to the public space. The uncle cannot but be unimpressed.

For Governor Adeleke, his approval rating remains above 80 percent. Someone throughout his four year tenure, has less than 30 percent approval rating.

Even President Bola Tinubu loves Imole.

Billionaire father of a billionaire, Dr Deji Adedeji is proud of his brother, Governor Adeleke, for achieving such significant delivery within just 18 months. So at the convocation, the Chancellor for the Adeleke University will speak of audacity of hope, of a vision that is becoming a reality, of an aspiration of a new Osun piloted by his brother.

Ooni of Ife Host 3rd Ayangalu Festival amidst Pomp and Pageantry

Ooni of Ife Host 3rd Ayangalu Festival amidst Pomp and Pageantry

...As Queen Aderonke Ogunwusi Advocate commitment to promoting Yoruba Culture

The wife of Oni of Ile-Ife who doubles as the Cultural Ambassador of the Ayangalu Traditional Drum Festival 2024, Her Majesty, Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi has clarified that Ayan Agalu Festival is the period set aside to honour and celebrate the greats deeds of deities, while stating that it is not fetish and or an avenue to worship deities.

Olori Aderonke stated this on Thursday, during the 3rd edition of Ayan Agalu Traditional Drum Festival held in Ojaja Arena ,Ife Grand Resort, Ile Ife Osun state.

While speaking, the Queen emphasized that, it is a great misconception among most people that Ayan Agalu Festival means worshipping of drums and deity.

She said, “Ayan Agalu festival is a patron deity of drumming and what we are doing today is, we’re honoring the deity, we’re celebrating the Ayan Agalu.

“Orisas are human being who did exceptional things and we remember them, when we celebrate them, it’s just to honour them, we don’t worship them, but we remember them and the great things they did when they’re alive.”

Olori Aderonke continued by analyzing the significance of Drumming in Yoruba culture especially among young individuals.

“Traditional Drum Festival, it’s all about appreciating the culture of drumming and to appreciate our ancestors who work so hard to ensure that our culture doesn’t go into extinction.

“We kick started at Obafemi Awolowo University in collaboration with the Institute of Cultural Studies, where we had workshop and we also have some rehearsals at the palace yesterday, we had drumming processions, which took place from Atiba, Idiaje,Oke itase to pay homage to those representing the ancient people of old who have done so much in ensuring, preserving and promoting our culture.

“His Majesty, Oni of Ife, who is the custodian of the Yoruba culture and traditions, is trying so hard to uphold the culture. We have so many festivals that we do in Ile Ife, we have Ayan Agalu festival, Obatala festival, Moremi Festival, Olojo Festival, so His Majesty is trying so hard by making sure this festival will be portrayed in a way that it won’t go into extinction, because alot of people perceive our festival as festish, they’re not festish, we’re just honoring those who did great things.

“Orisas are human being who did exceptional things and we remember them, when we celebrate them, it’s just to honour them, we don’t worship them, but we remember them and the great things they did when they’re alive”, She emphasized.

In an interview with newsmen, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Prince Adewale Laoye reiterated that the Ayan Agalu festival is meant to revive the Yoruba culture and to preserve it.

“We’re encouraging drumming among children as well, and that’s why we invited children here today, we have children group that are going to play the drum and they’re going to see their Fathers on stage, how they handle talking drum, how to make it talk because to play talking drum is  not easy.

“Every Yoruba drums imitate human speech, we want people to know that it’s not only about dancing to drums, we use drums to send messages from one street to another, in fact from one room to another room, before the arrival of GSM.

“We are giving a very big kudos to Baba Oniirisa for putting this one together especially this time of Nigeria in this economy, you can see what he has spent”, he noted.

He, however advised parents and Youths to venture into drumming, adding that there is money in drum.

“We will advise Yoruba  children across Nigeria to get involved, you can make money through drumming and with that we can  help Nigeria economy”, he advised.

While speaking with newsmen, Omo Oba Adekunle Adeyemo from the House of Oduduwa Foundation, Enuwa, urged the state government to support the Ooni of Ife in upholding the festival and Yoruba culture.

He said, “It’s a potential revenue earner, because drum has so many uses, it talks and you know it’s not about the Goverment alone, the government cannot make money for us all, but when we make money we pay tax and the society will be better for us.

“We’re calling on the state government to support us, support the Ooni Risa, he cannot do it alone. Please support it to make it success, He pleaded.

Contract Uploads on Osun Website: Setting the Records Straight

PRESS STATEMENT

OSOGBO - JULY 18th, 2024 - Osunstate.gov.ng

Our attention has been drawn to a news reports and counter -reports on a Sahara Reporters’ story on a previous contract awards and uploads on Osun state websites under under former Governor Gboyega Oyetola

We seek to correct certain misconceptions we noticed in the counter-reactions to the Sahara Reporters story. Our goal is to set the records straight

The old Osun state OCDS Portal is www.ocdsosun.org.ng. The new Osun state e-Procurement System is egp.osunstate.gov.ng. It was launched in December 2021 under the government of former Governor Oyetola.

So we must first take note that the migration of the data from the old to the new website was done under the administration of Governor Oyetola. The then Commissioner of Finance Mr Bola Oyebamiji and the Former General Manager of the Agency, Mr Adegboyega Basheer Bello supervised the entire e-procurement process.

So it was not true that it was the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke which created the new website and incorrectly exported existing data on the old website.

Having clarified that, we want to add further that the e-Procurement System has OCDS records of manual awards (i.e; awards before the use of e-Procurement) and electronic awards conducted through the e-Procurement system (after 2021).

The two portals were created during the administration of former Governor Oyetola. Bon Maximus company was engaged as consultant to manage the new e.procurement system (egp.osunstate.gov.ng) by the same Oyetola administration.

The error identified was a data entry error that occurred three (3) times during migration of manual awards to the e-Procurement system. This was as earlier noted done under the previous administration.

This can be authenticated further as the "Release Date" which means "Upload Date" of the affected project is 2021-06-01. The award is for a single project, award amount is N233,456,205 and it is a Direct Labour project executed by the Ministry of Works.

However, the error was corrected by the consultant when he saw Sahara's report as such error can only occur on a project that was awarded manually. You can not have errors in electronic awards; i.e; contracts conducted through the e-Procurement system.

This is one of the reasons why the current Osun State government retained the inherited e-Procurement system for better transparency and efficiency in procurement processes.

We therefore want to note that the original Sahara Reporters’ story indeed picked the data from the official website which indeed contained the error.

As we have affirmed, it was however an error, a migration of data error from the old to the new website.

The fact as stated above is that it was one project that was uploaded three times which gave the impression of wrongdoing.

This multiple posting of contracts in error while moving data from old to the new site, all occurred under the administration of former Governor Oyetola.

The consultant managing the site did the needful by correcting the anomaly.

We thank the Sahara Reporters for spotting the error even as we assure that under the current procurement system, no error of such can re-occur.

Governor Adeleke Expands Partnership with Ogun Osun River Basin Authority, Approves Measures to Revive Iragbiji Dam

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO - 18/07/2024 - Osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has welcomed an expanded partnership with the Ogun Osun River Basin Authority as the agency toured ongoing projects across Osun State.

Addressing the delegation led by its Managing Director, Dr Adedeji Ashiru at the Government House, Governor Adeleke directed a more robust partnership between the State and the agency in view of the massive programmes the authority is implementing across Osun.

The Governor while responding to the state of Iragbiji dam immediately directed relevant line ministries to work out measures to deploy the dam for irrigation purposes as proposed by the River Basin Authority.

He expressed surprise that the dam was unutilised since 2018 when it was handed over to the State Government.

Dr Ashiru had in his address listed several ongoing projects in Osun but specifically requested the Governor’s action on the Iragbiji dam which he said the Authority had completed and handed over to the State Government in 2018.

He told the Governor that the Iragbiji dam can be deployed for irrigation farming by the state government in line with the Federal and state agenda for food security..

While approving the request, the Governor further directed the Commissioner for Water Resources and Agriculture to visit the site for immediate assessment, lamenting such unjustifiable neglect of such vital state assets.

Addressing the delegation further, the Governor said “Our government is desirous of strong partnership with your agency.

“As a government with a huge infra plan, collaboration with the River basin will enhance our push to secure food security.

“The vision for River basin authorities across the states recognises the importance of local partnership. Osun has had such collaboration in the past but we need to deepen the relationship”, Mr Governor submitted.
