PRESS RELEASE
Osun State Government carpets opposition party APC as cheap blackmailers
- Your Allegations on Financial State of Osun, Jaundiced, Myopic, Baseless
OSOGBO/ 31/12/2024
Osunstate.gov.ng
The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a purported End of the Year Media talk; titled “Disclose true financial situation of Osun, APC lampoons Adeleke’s government” circulating in both conventional and non conventional media outlets in recent times.
Notwithstanding the fact that the so called media talk was organised by those whose imagination of how a government is being run can best be described as shortsighted, jaundiced and myopic, the need to give a rebuttal to such beer parlour talk becomes imperative at this time, in order to once again set the record straight.
Doing so, would as a matter of fact insulate members of the public from being misled and misguided by such unbridled beer parlor talks by shameless opposition party members in the state.
One of the issues raised in the so called beer parlour media talk was the NG-CARES, which had earlier been cleared many times by the administration of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke by stating that the Subsidiary Loan Agreement (SLA) was signed by the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola with billions of naira accessed by the same government before Oyetola and his government left the Bola Ige Government House on 26th of November, 2022.
With all sense of modesty and responsibility, it therefore cut short of ones imagination, which of course, might have been borne out of the ill informed and intellectual laziness displayed by the so called people who address the baseless press conference.
A press statement issued by Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi and released to the press alluded to the fact that, all that was needed from the jobless opposition members in the state was just to place a phone call to the former Governor Oyetola, instead of playing roadside politics with the benefits the people of Osun are daily enjoying from the CARES programme of Adeleke led government .
Alimi who also threw more insights into the issue of the alleged conversion of $20m using exchange rate of N1,650 to a dollar, reiterated that it is another crass display of lack of knowledge on how modern governance operates, going by the spurious allegations raised during the said press conference.
He states inter alia "The CARES intervention is a Programme for Results (PforR) which simply means, the government must use its treasury resources for implementation, then World Bank will send an independent assessor to the State to check the claim of achievements before reimbursement is done to the State using a prevailing exchange rate at the time.
"Aside that, the programme is still ongoing, the claim of $20m being accessed so far is then from the garrulous and filthy imaginations of the opposition charlatans in the state, which at best is to be thrown to the garbage of time.
"The issue of NG-CARES Additional Financing is an ongoing process between the Federal Government and the World Bank which is an addendum to the original CARES signed by the former Governor which is even yet to be floated by the world Bank/Federal Government.
"While Osun State Government sees all these as a load of unwarranted noise anchored on jaundiced assumption, it must be emphasized for the umpteenth times for the knowledge and education of the opposition members particularly the masterminds of that beer parlour press conspiracy that the Imole Osun led administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke did not, has not and will not, borrow a dime to run it's populist oriented style of governance, hence the need for opposition party in Osun State to thread softly and do things with decorum instead of being daily preoccupied with uncharitable and unwarranted shenanigans of bringing down the daily increasing popularity and acceptability of Governor Ademola Adeleke" ended the press statement.

What Can Ademola Adeleke Not Do?
By Sola Isola
For decades, we have always heard or read that government is continuum. We hardly get to see it happen in terms of projects especially when government changes hand from one political party to another, unfortunately it has denegerated lately into government changing hand to players within the same political parties abandoning project left by their predecessors.
In the media space, several analysts have tried to argue this as a basis for failure of government at several levels. While some people argue that it is politics of hatred, some other people argue that it is basically about priorities and some others argue that it is about each Governor or President wanting to leave a legacy. In this case lets focus on the Governors.
The question then becomes if a project should be completed because it has already been started or because the new Governor feels the project is not priority, remember that scarce resources had already been expended on the project.
Purpose conversion is something Nigerian leaders may have to pay attention to because if a particular project conceived for a certain purpose failed or has outlived its purpose, the same project can then be converted and used for another purpose.
Let me state here that the fact that government is continuum has been extensively exemplified by Governor Ademola Adeleke and this is not because of the basic functions of government but also on the basis of project abandoned by predecessors he has completed and projects that are moribund that he has now revived.
On one hand, let it be on record that when we say Government is continuum, it means that every new government inherits both the assets and liabilities of the previous government and is duty bound to fulfill those obligations.
Take loan repayment for instance, its impossible for any government to come and then refuse to pay back loan on the basis that it was taken by outgone governments, the loan is binding on the state.
In this regard, Governor Adeleke in two years of his administration, has paid back #62.31billion as domestic debt and paid back $13.61million in foreign debt.
The Domestic debt of Osun was ₦148.37 billion as at December 2022 when Governor Adeleke was sworn in but it has now reduced to ₦86.06 billion as at June 2024. In the same manner Foreign Debt of Osun as at December 2022 was $91.78 million but it has now reduced to $78.17 million as at June 2024.
Meaning that the Domestic debt of Osun has reduced by 42% and also the External debt reduced by 15% within to two years of our administration.
This is said to be my understanding of a government that is continuum, this is a liability or burden imposed on the state government by outgone administrations but which must be paid back, that's one hand of the continuity of Government.
I say often that every leader must combine competence and character but in addition to this, every leader must be humane - showing concern for the pain or suffering of another, in other words, a Leader must be compassionate.
I remember that in December 2022 when Governor Adeleke was yet to move to the Government Secretariat and we were still operating from Imole House, he was being briefed by different agencies of government and then it was the turn of CSDA, while the Agency Boss was presenting her report she mentioned some communities that were disconnected from the national grid and also mentioned that the Agency had the fund but needed the Governor's approval which the immediate past Governor didn't give till he left office.
Governor Adeleke’s mood changed immediately and all of us present could tell that he was sad, so he got the microphone and he said he was sad, we knew that he was indeed sad and he gave approval for the kick off of the project immediately.
Going forward, Former Governor Rauf Aregbesola was famous among workers in the state for paying half salary and to be honest, many of the workers now retired had already thought the money had gone, Governor Adeleke again during the campaign period promised the workers of Osun both serving and retired that their welfare is his ultimate concern.
I am nostalgic about this because I have family members who were affected, in fact my mother and father had suffered the harmer of two former APC government both when it was AD, before it became, ACN and then its finally merger with CPC to become APC. I won't be talking politics in this piece for now.
Now for retired civil servants on contributory penion, Governor Adeleke as at June 2024 has paid back over N12.7billion and paid back N4.3billion in gratuities, which his higher than what the previous administrations in the state paid back in twelve years all together. Only recently, in October 2024, Governor Adeleke approved another payment of N3.3billion pensions and gratuities and presented a N1.9billion cheque to Contributory pensioners in the state in November 2024.
You may want to argue that this is not an achievement but whatever makes an administration impose a burden on the government, its becomes an achievement for whoever lifts the burden, in this case, the name Ademola Adeleke suffices.
What about half salary, Governor Adeleke had in 2 years paid back a total of 7 months half salary from the 30 months half salary debt inherited from previous APC administrations, as if that wasn't enough, Governor Adeleke cashed back the promotion of civil servants approved by the previous administration and left without financial implication.
Some people have gone about parading lies that Governor Adeleke had promised to pay the backlog in 6 months, I hereby challenge whoever said this to provide a video clip where he said that. At no time was such promised, he simply promised to pay and he has started, he has paid 7 months out of 30 in 2 years.
Now the highest ranking civil servants in any state is the permanent secretary, but for close to 10 years, Osun State operated without Permanent Secretaries because a government was trying to avoid the benefits of office and entitlements for the office holders then introduced “Coordinating Directors” instead, which the government of Oyetola that succeed it didn't reverse until it lost the 2022 Governorship Election.
The question in the school of public thought then became, if the Oyetola-led Government in the state knew it would appoint Permanent Secretaries, why wait until the loss of an election before taking such step, does it mean it wouldn't have if Oyetola had won his re-election bid?
Governor Adeleke upon assumption of office abolished the title of Coordinating Directors used in Ministries under the previous APC administration with the re-introduction of Permanent Secretaries to restore full confidence and right order in public service.
Now let me bring the conversation home, this conversation is so you can understand how Governor Adeleke has continued to clear doubts by doing things the previous administrations started.
In March 2023, while celebrating his 100 days in office, Governor Adeleke commissioned the second phase of 10.5km Osogbo Ikirun/Ila-Odo road which was abandoned by previous APC governments. The road was contract was first awarded in 2012.
On the 4th of December 2024, Governor Seyi Makinde on behalf of Governor Adeleke commissioned the the dualized Testing-Ground-Ilesa-Garage road in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The 17.4km Oba (Sir) Adesoji Aderemi East Bypass was awarded in the year 2012 by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to Messrs Slava-Yeditepe Project Limited to ease the traffic congestion at the centre of the city and to serve as intracity link. The road passes through Egbedore, Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government areas. The scope of works consist of 4nos bridges: One over Rail Line and Three over River Osun, a full cloverleaf interchange and host of the another items of work.
The road project is divided into four segments with each segment connected with roundabout or interchange in Osogbo metropolis which are; Osogbo / Iwo road – Osogbo/Gbongan Road Osogbo/Gbongan road – Osogbo/Ilesa Road Osogbo/Ilesa Road – Osogbo/Ibokun Road Osogbo/Ibokun Road – Osogbo/Ikirun Road.
The road was left incomplete by the time the tenure of Rauf Aregbesola expired and still incomplete by the time Gboyega Oyetola was completed his tenure, which means that for 12 years the road remained abandoned and Governor Adeleke in his two years completed it, with solar powered street lights.
In December 2024, Governor Adeleke commissioned Otan Ayegbaju – Iresi intercity road, which was abandoned for 44 years. This 7.5km road was constructed and commissioned to mark the second year in office celebration of the Ademola Adeleke-led administration.
On the same day of the Iresi road commissioning, Governor Adeleke had commissioned Cooperative College in Ode Omu, Osun State which was abandoned for 12 years and has been reconstructed by his administration.
I have to admit that even as an aide of the Governor I often wonder how easy or hard it must have been for a man who was completely underrated before becoming Governor, he was even degraded by the opposition party. The opposition party keeps searching for documents to nail him that he may have obtained loans but each time they did, the propaganda fails woefully, even the one they got featured on Sahara Reporters.
To be honest, I believe that the model of Imole government is worthy of emulation, let's us the implementation of Minimum Wage as an example, the Ademola Adeleke-led administration started paying workers the 75,000 minimum wage with December 2024 salary, even when the federal government that approved 70,000 was yet to fully implement it. The salary scale of workers in Osun is now said to be second best in the southwest after Lagos. Nothing but commendable.
So what is it that Ademola Adeleke can not do? Against all odds, he continues to show to us all that he is here to do the job. According to Colin Powell, “A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” Adeleke has proven to us beyond reasonable doubt that he meant business.
I'll say this as I round it up, Oyetola-led Government told the people of Osun State it renovated Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, with that year in review, lets take 2023 for instance, Ondo emerge first in the southwest in the Leadership Challenge for Healthcare Delivery. This was announced in May 2023, 6 months into the government of Governor Adeleke. Where then is the result of the effort of Oyetola in the health sector. The challenge started in 2019, even when Oyetola was Governor, not once did Osun moved close to being a winner.
Fast forward to December 2024, 2 years after Ademola Adeleke became the Governor of Osun State, and took a bold step revamping the Primary Healthcare Centres in the state, Osun emerged Southwest Champions and won $500,000. There is therefore no doubt that the intervention of Ademola Adeleke is yielding results, its not a gimmick.
Osun in two years, under the leadership of Ademola Adeleke has seen tremendous improvement in the Health, Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Water, Sports and all other sectors, again I ask, what can Adeleke not do?
Sola Isola is a Media Aide to Governor Adeleke of Osun State.

This is in addition to several other infrastructural developments in Ilesa and Ijeshaland in general.
"I therefore urge all and sundry to continue to support this administration as we take developments to every corner of the state. I promise not to relent on our efforts to transform our dear State. We have been doing this and we will continue to do more in the new year", the Governor noted.
Responding, the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Hastrup accepted to serve as the 41st Owa Obokun Adimula and the paramount ruler of Ijeshaland, while promising to rule with wisdom, justice, divine guidance and compassion.
"I accept this noble position of Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland with gratitude and reverence, knowing that it is not by might, but divine arrangement. I am humbled, privileged and honoured by the trust you have collectively placed in me.
"I make a solemn promise to rule with wisdom, justice, divine guidance and compassion. SRJ is Raising False Alarm Instead of Commending Governor Adeleke for Upgrading Osogbo-Adeleke Spokesperson
NEWS RELEASE
SRJ is Raising False Alarm Instead of Commending Governor Adeleke for Upgrading Osogbo-Adeleke Spokesperson
The National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Dr Ajibola Bashiru is frustrated about the incredible delivery of projects and services by Governor Ademola Adeleke. He is equally shocked by the transformation of Osogbo, his home town, hence the leveling of baseless allegations and the twisting of harmless statements by the Chief of Staff to Governor Adeleke, Hon Kazeem Akinleye.
At no time did the Governor or the Chief of Staff threaten violence as there is no reason to do so in view of the incredible level of support and goodwill the current administration is enjoying in Osun state. Governor Adeleke is a man of peace who did not raise a finger when he was electorally robbed in 2018 while the Chief of Staff is a widely known peace loving political strategist who peacefully schemed alongside others for the APC's defeats in the last elections.
The APC Secretary is only twisting facts, misinterpreting phrases and putting criminal colouration to a normal call on Osun people to reward good work of Governor Adeleke with a new mandate in 2026 and protect their votes from electoral bandits of any colour.
We also note that the APC Secretary is surprised and agitated about the increasing partnership and collaboration between the Adeleke administration and the Federal Government. He is really in shock with regular visits and commendations for the state governor from top federal officials who genuinely appreciate good governance delivery in Osun state.
We call on security agencies to ignore the false alarm raised by the APC National Secretary. Neither Governor Adeleke nor his Chief of Staff is an agent of violence. It is the APC leaders who have been boasting about their plots to steal 2026 elections in Osun state.
In response, the State government and its functionaries have been advocating for free and fair polls and the need for people to protect their votes.
Is the APC Secretary afraid of calls on people to protect their votes?
Instead of maligning top government leaders who are doing so much to develop Osogbo, Dr Bashiru should be thankful to Governor Adeleke for his extensive developmental scorecard in Osogbo and across the state.

IWO DAY 2024: GOVERNOR ADELEKE ROLLS OUT DEVELOPMENT AGENDA FOR IWO
NEWS RELEASE
IWO DAY 2024: GOVERNOR ADELEKE ROLLS OUT DEVELOPMENT AGENDA FOR IWO
• REAFFIRMS OLUWO AS PRESIDENT, IWO COUNCIL OF TRADITIONAL RULERS
IWO- 21/12/2024- osunstate.gov.ng
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has listed the projects his administration intends to embark upon in Iwo as part of the development agenda for the state.
The Governor noted that his administration has approved a dual carriage way for Iwo, which is the dualisation of Adeeke -Odori road to be done in two phases, while the first phase will run from Odoori to the Post Office with a branching to the front of the palace from the Roundabout, the second phase will run from the Post Office to Adeeke junction.
He noted further that, in the second phase of his administration intervention in the health Sector, the Iwo General Hospital will be rehabilitated adding that the rehabilitation of Iwo Water Works is currently ongoing.
Speaking at Iwo Day 2024 at the Oluwo Stadium in Iwo, Osun State, the Governor who was represented by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed reaffirmed the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi as the President of Iwo Council of Traditional Rulers.
"In line with our commitment to equity and fairness, our administration has approved a dual carriage way for Iwo. The dualisation of Adeke -Odori road will be done in two phases. The first phase will run from Odoori to the Post Office with a branching to the front of the palace from the Roundabout. The second phase will run from the Post Office to Adeeke junction.
"I hereby direct the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to host community engagement events with stakeholders on the proposed highway. Additionally, the Ministry is further directed to mobilise to site from January to commence the dualisation project.
"Kabiyesi, other dignitaries, I am full of joy to inform you that the dualised freeway will have full solar light from Odoori to Adeeke.
"We will deliver all these under record time with direct emphasis on local content. We will ensure we use local personnel, local suppliers and local engineers. Our goal is to deepen prosperity by ensuring that Osun money circulates within Osun.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Iwo also stands to benefit from the recently launched Imole Agropreneur Project. The project targets a Public Private Partnership arrangement to raise a new generation of Agropreneurs to be supported by the government. The project launched at Imesi Ile recently expects each community to provide farm lands with the government providing farm input, farmland preparation, extension services and offtaking opportunities.
"To this end, I direct the Ministry of Agriculture to liaise with the director of agriculture in each local government as well as the traditional rulers to secure land and register potential agropreneurs. Kabiyesi, this is a project deeply beneficial to our communities.
"Ladies and gentlemen, our administration has rehabilitated 200 out of 400 primary health centres. For 2025, we are expanding our remodeling hand to the general hospitals. I want to assure this audience that in 2025, Iwo General Hospital will get its due attention.
"To our traditional rulers, I appeal for peace, unity and developmental collaboration. I have deep respect for our traditional rulers at all levels. I cherish Yoruba's rich tradition and traditional rulership heritage. I will do all within my powers to promote and develop our traditional Institutions.
"It was in pursuit of that goal that I reaffirm the law that Oluwo of Iwoland is and remains the President of Iwo Council of Traditional Rulers. I urge Kabiyesi to continue to exercise his vested powers with all sense of accommodation. I stand by that reaffirmation because that is what the law and tradition say. I won't support historical revisionism.
"I urge our traditional rulers to unite and join hands with our administration to develop the State. I am in a hurry to take Osun to the promised land of advanced infrastructure, commendable high human development index, well developed agro industrial society and a community of shared prosperity", the Governor noted.
Speaking on the projects already executed in Iwo by his administration, Governor Adeleke noted that over 30 community projects which include several primary health care centres and rural roads has been fixed adding that Iwo has the highest number of community development projects across the local governments and area councils.
"For Iwo town, we are currently constructing several roads and bridges. You all can testify to such road projects. We have reconstructed the collapsed Adeeke Bridge. Under my direction, your son who is a technocrat in charge of highways is ensuring that Iwo got her fair share of road project allocation.
"The Gbongan-Iwo - Oyo road has received attention after my visit to the Minister of Works. Again, your son, our Senator for Osun West is following up. We must break the jinx on that long delayed project.
"We have executed over 30 community projects which include several primary health care centres and rural roads. Iwo has the highest number of community development projects across the local governments and area councils. Your son, who is in charge of the community development project agency is doing well.
"We are rehabilitating Iwo water works from the equipment refurbishing to relaying of pipes after several decades of neglect. This project is ongoing. Again, your son who is the Commissioner for Water Resources is putting all attention to the ongoing water works rehabilitation across the state including Iwo.
"Under my direction, I am happy to report that your son has secured the intervention of the Federal Government for the Iwo Water Works in the 2025 budget.
"On Iwo- Osogbo roads, all the impediments delaying early completion are now cleared. A fast tracked implementation plan is now in place. The contractor who is your own son will mobilise fully to site from January 2025.
"I want to assure you that our government will complete and commission that road within the lifespan of this administration", the Governor added.

ADELEKE VOWS TO SUPPORT OYO STATE ON AFCFTA SUB-NATIONAL IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY
Osun State Government under the leadership of Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has vowed to support its Oyo State counterpart on the development of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) Sub-National implementation strategy.
This was contained in a goodwill message by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo at the AFCFTA consultative forum held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan on Wednesday.
One of the important objectives of the AFCFTA is to create a single market that will help facilitate the free movement of persons, goods, services and investments.
The Commissioner said, "according to the AFCFTA factsheet, with a combined GDP of an estimated US$3.4 trillion, the pact links 1.3 billion people living in different parts of the continent, it promises to turn Africa into a modern, industrialised, cohesive and influential player on the global stage".
The Commissioner who expressed his delight applauded the government of Oyo State led by Engnr. Seyi Makinde for deeming it fit to put the consultative forum together at this critical point of our economic existence.
"This consultative forum is important and is coming up at a time that Nigeria and South Western States are looking at various ways to diversify their economies to the non--oil sector", he said.
The Commissioner also assured the government and people of Oyo State of Governor Adeleke's readiness to give total support to fulfill the objectives of the AFCFTA project in Oyo State, which was centred around the benefits derivable from AFCFTA.

Governor Adeleke’s Achievements at Ikire: Peter Babalola Lied, Suffers Dementia Symptoms
It is becoming increasingly apparent that Peter Babalola, a prominent figure from Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area (LGA) in Osun State, may be suffering from dementia-related symptoms.
His recent public remarks, including accusations against Governor Ademola Adeleke of constructing only 1.5 kilometers of road in Ikire, have raised concerns. These claims seem to reflect a disconnect from the reality on the ground, perhaps stemming from an inability to stay fully engaged with the ongoing developments in his hometown
It is vital that Elder Peter Babalola makes the effort to return to Ikire and reconnect with his roots. The dynamic leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, under the progressive PDP government, has ushered in significant developments across Osun, including Ikire. The state has undergone impressive transformation, with roads, classrooms, and hospitals being constructed and renovated WITHIN TWO YEARS! These developments include:
1. 1.2 kilometers of road from Islamia to Oke Ada Junction, Ikire ( completed)
2. 1.8 kilometers of road from Sango/Bokusoro to Sabo Junction, Ikire ( completed)
3. Ongoing construction of 2.4 kilometers of road from Naira & Kobo junction to the University of Osun (UniOsun) Campus road in Ikire . ( about 80% completed)
Moreover, the Adeleke government has undertaken extensive renovations, constructing new classrooms and upgrading the local hospital in Ikire. These efforts aim to provide better infrastructure and services for the people of Ikire, enhancing the town’s growth and potential.
I urge Peter Babalola to visit his hometown regularly, engage with the people, and witness firsthand the remarkable changes that are taking place.

No Witch Hunting in our Mining Reforms - Osun Governor
NEWS RELEASE.
No Witch Hunting in our Mining Reforms - Osun Governor
OSOGBO- 18/12/2024 -Osunstate.gov.ng
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring fair practices in the state's mining sector, stating that he has no witch hunting agenda against any individual or businesses.
Speaking at a stakeholders' forum held today, the governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye, highlighted the ongoing legal and policy challenges within the federal system, particularly in the mining sector, where state, federal, and community rights often clash.
He emphasized the need for clearer boundaries between state and federal responsibilities to address complications in the sector even as he commends the regulatory coordination by the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals.
"We are all aware of the policy and legal complications around our brand of federalism. The struggle to clear these issues is still ongoing, especially within the solid mineral sector," the Governor stated, pointing out the exploitation of legal grey areas by some stakeholders in the business sector to undermine the rights of states and host communities.
The Governor outlined the proactive steps taken by his administration to strengthen Osun’s position within the sector through hard but equitable policy actions.
"Our administration early in the days launched ambitious mining sector reforms to claim the rights of our state and our host communities. These efforts are yielding positive returns," Governor Adeleke affirmed.
He emphasized the revalidation of mining licenses and the recovery of Osun's shares in the Segilola mining project, alongside efforts to ensure the payment of taxes and other financial obligations by mining companies.
Governor Adeleke also stressed the state’s push for compensation for environmental damages caused by mining activities, lamenting the health and developmental challenges facing Mining towns and villages.
"Our administration revalidated our mining licenses. We reclaimed Osun shares in the Segilola mining project. We are pushing for the payment of taxes and other financial obligations by Segilola and other mining companies. We are pressing for compensation on environmental damages, among others." he stated.
Senator Adeleke made it clear that the state’s mining reforms are not about targeting any particular group but ensuring that the rights of all stakeholders, including businesses, host communities, and the state government, are respected.
"Our main preoccupation is to block any exploitation and cheating of our people," he said. We desire that our people and state should feel the impact of their God-given resources."
The governor also emphasised Osun’s pro-business stance, saying that while the state supports business development, it will not tolerate attempts to deny the state and its people their rightful share in the mining sector.

PeacePro Commends Osun State Government for Reviewing miscarriage of justice involving Segun Olowookere
December 18, 2024
The Foundation for Peace Professionals (PeacePro) applauds the Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, for intervening in the case of Segun Olowookere, a young man sentenced to death by hanging for stealing a fowl.
This decisive step represents a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice and equity in the state.
For over a decade, PeacePro has been actively involved in advocating for fairness and mercy in this case, underscoring the severe disproportion between the alleged offense and the punishment.
We have consistently maintained that justice must be tempered with compassion and fairness, especially when addressing cases involving vulnerable individuals and potential miscarriages of justice.
Governor Adeleke's directive to the Attorney General to launch a full investigation and initiate processes to grant Segun Olowookere a prerogative of mercy demonstrates a commendable commitment to the principles of justice, equity, and the sanctity of life.
The Governor’s assurance that this matter is receiving his urgent attention reflects the administration's dedication to protecting the rights of all citizens.
We are particularly moved by the Governor's recognition of Osun State as a "land of justice and equity" and his determination to ensure fairness in the state's judicial processes. This intervention serves as a beacon of hope for other individuals facing unjust treatment within the justice system.
PeacePro remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting justice and peace across Nigeria. We urge other states to take a cue from this exemplary leadership by revisiting and addressing cases of disproportionate sentencing and potential judicial errors.
As we await the successful conclusion of this case, PeacePro reiterates its gratitude to Governor Adeleke and the Osun State Government for their proactive and humane approach to governance.

Osun APC Faces Internal Struggles as Group Advocates for Candidate from Osun West
A coalition of internal groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the party's leadership to select a gubernatorial candidate from the Osun West Senatorial District. Speaking at a press briefing today, the group’s spokesperson emphasized that the prevailing political dynamics in the state make it imperative for the APC to field a candidate from Osun West. He warned that failing to do so could significantly harm the party’s prospects in the 2026 elections.
The spokesperson also called on prominent party figures, including the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and former APC National Chairman Baba Bisi Akande, to guide the party toward a strategic decision.
This development follows the recent suspension of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former governor and ex-Minister of Interior, who led a faction within the party known as the Omoluabi Caucus. Aregbesola's suspension is viewed as a major setback for the APC, potentially diminishing its electoral fortunes.
Speculation is rife about the APC’s 2026 flagbearer, with reports suggesting that Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola may be eyeing the ticket. However, some party leaders have expressed doubts about his viability, citing his lack of popularity, his previous defeat as an incumbent governor, and his representation of Osun Central—a zone that has dominated state leadership for over 12 years since 1999.
Meanwhile, the political tide appears to favor the incumbent governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP, who is widely seen as the frontrunner for 2026. Governor Adeleke, who hails from Osun West, has been commended for his achievements in two years, which some argue surpass those of his predecessor’s four-year tenure. Additionally, the PDP is more unified, presenting a stark contrast to the internal challenges faced by the APC.
As the APC struggles with its internal disputes and unbalanced for the upcoming elections, Governor Adeleke's position seems increasingly unassailable, with both his performance and geographical alignment resonating strongly with the electorate. Debt Profile: Data by DMO Validates Osun’s Success on Debt Management - Governor Adeleke's Spokesperson
NEWS RELEASE
OSOGBO - 08/12/2024- Osunstate.gov.ng
The Spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has said that data released by Debt Management Office has vindicated the Adeleke led administration on the debt profile of the state.
He added that as against the falsehood published by certain online news platforms and amplified by the All Progressives Congress (APC), State External Debt according to the DMO has reduced by 15% while Domestic Debt reduced by 42%.
Stating this in a statement issued on Sunday, Mallam Olawale Rasheed said that the Domestic debt of Osun was ₦148.37 billion as at December 2022 but reduced to ₦86.06 billion as at June 2024 while Foreign Debt as at December 2022 was $91.78 million but reduced to $78.17 million as at June 2024.
He said, "The truth remains that Osun State Debt profile has actually reduced under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the last two years. Data doesn't lie and cannot be hidden.
"The Domestic debt of Osun was ₦148.37 billion as at December 2022 but it has now reduced to ₦86.06 billion as at June 2024. In the same manner Foreign Debt as at December 2022 was $91.78 million but it has now reduced to $78.17 million as at June 2024.
"What that means is that the Domestic debt of Osun reduced by 42% and also the External debt reduced by 15% within two years of our administration.
"What this also mean in terms of figures is that Governor Adeleke has paid back #62.31billion as domestic debt and paid off $13.61million in foreign debt, this is the burden the APC led past administration imposed on the people of the state. If this administration didn't inherit those debt, these said amounts would have been better used for the good people of Osun state.
"The online medium failed to do due diligence and published APC's fabricated fake news. The figures published by the DMO has now exposed the falsehood and fake news.
"The fact remains that Governor Adeleke has not taken any loan. There is transparency and accountability in this government. We are concerned about the welfare of the people and we will keep doing that", the Spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Osun 2026: Hon Doguwa Echoes the Voice of Osun people, Says Adeleke's Spokesperson
NEWS RELEASE
OSOGBO - 08/12/2024 - Osunstate.gov.ng
The Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has described the open declaration of a ranking All Progressive Congress (APC) federal lawmaker, Hon. Alhassan Doguwa, that Osun is a no go area comes 2026 as a political reality that must be accepted by all, noting that Governor Adeleke is well positioned to retain his mandate beyond 2026.
Hon. Doguwa who was in Ede alongside his colleagues in the green chamber, remarked that "With the developmental strides of Governor Ademola Adeleke and the kind of political strength I have seen here, along with the dexterity and doggedness of your humble personality, it appears to me that Osun is like a no-go area."
Reacting to the lawmaker's comment, Mallam Olawale Rasheed said Hon. Doguwa's remark reflects the true state of things in Osun state, saying the support for Governor Adeleke among Osun people is too pronounced that it could not escape the attention of a veteran politician in the mold of Hon. Doguwa.
Mallam Rasheed maintained that as long as democracy is about numbers and the will of the people, Governor Adeleke is advantageously positioned to secure a re-election in 2026 when the governorship polls are opened, warning that those who are counting on manipulation to get to power will have the people to contend with.
"The truth, which is not lost on even his critics, is that Governor Ademola Adeleke is the man to beat because the people are solidly behind him. If truly we are in a democracy, and that the people actually are the decider, there is no way those who failed badly in the past will have any inroad to power in 2026," Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted.
"Although, we have heard them boast of capturing or snatching or adopting any other undemocratic means to power in 2026, but we are confident that they have Osun people to deal with. And, we know for certain that it will be mission impossible, because no matter how much they try, the people will prevail.
"Rt. Hon. Alhassan Doguwa is a veteran politician, serving his 6th term in the House of Representative, and knows the indices that count for electoral victory. So, it is not surprising when he categorised Osun as a no-go area, which we believe should be enough to prevail on those who seek to bypass the acceptable route to power in a democracy, which is through a fair and credible poll."
Mallam Rasheed said Governor Adeleke will forge ahead in his pro-people governance approach out of deep respect for their trust as reflective in electing him in 2022, noting that Osun will experience more developmental projects and welfare packages for the people under Governor Adeleke.
"Governor Adeleke is the People's Governor, and not one imposed on the people with aid of a 'remote control', and he respects Osun people for their votes. In two years, he has been able to show that things can actually work going by the incredible turnaround in physical infrastructure, welfare of the people, among other good governance efforts demonstrated," he added.
"While some may hold on to the illusion of a repeat of the 'remote control' imposition, we declare our resolute faith in the people to stand firm in ensuring that nothing tampers with their will and are ready to show that, as Rt. Hon. Doguwa rightly declared, Osun is a no-go area."

"Rt.

Governor Adeleke Shares N250 Million Microcredit Cheques with Beneficiaries.
NEWS RELEASE
05/12/2024 - OSOGBO
The Governor of Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, today distributed N250 million (N250,000,000) in microcredit cheques to various beneficiaries across the state at the foundation-laying ceremony of the Osun Micro Credit Agency’s office complex. The event took place at the agency’s permanent site in Oranmiyan New Town, behind the State Secretariat, Abeere, Osun State.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, the Governor emphasized the importance of the occasion, describing it as a "new chapter" for the agency, which has been instrumental in providing accessible credit to citizens across the state. The Governor also addressed the long-standing issue of the agency operating from rented premises, calling it unacceptable. He pledged to expedite the completion of the new office complex, assuring that the project would be finished sooner than initially projected. The Medium-Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) had set 2027 as the expected completion date, but Adeleke vowed to fast-track the development using all necessary resources.
"For over a decade, it is disheartening to note that an agency as critical as the Osun Micro Credit Agency has operated from rented premises. This reality is both unacceptable and a reflection of the neglect and complacency we inherited. However, we are here today to rewrite that story and restore hope to this agency and the people it serves," the Governor stated.
"Our administration is committed to improving the lives of the people of Osun State," he added, highlighting that the office complex was only one of many projects slated for completion by 2025.
The N250 million funding boost for the Osun Micro Credit Agency includes a N200 million injection into the agency’s working capital, with N50 million specifically allocated for new applicants and beneficiaries. This funding is part of the administration’s broader effort to empower small businesses and drive economic growth in the state.
Addressing the beneficiaries of the microcredit loans, Adeleke urged them to use the funds prudently to grow their businesses and contribute to the state’s economic development. The loans come with favorable repayment terms, offering a 12-month tenor at an annual interest rate of 9%, making it one of the most affordable loan options in the country. The loans are revolving, ensuring that others can access credit as well.
"To the beneficiaries of these funds, I urge you to use the resources wisely to grow your businesses and create lasting value. As you know, these loans are revolving in nature, and timely repayment is essential to ensure others also benefit," Adeleke stated.
The Governor also encouraged individuals, cooperative groups, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Osun Micro Credit Agency. He assured the people of Osun that his administration is committed to driving the state’s economic growth through these initiatives.
Despite criticism from opposition parties, the Governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue working for the benefit of the people. "The people of Osun have seen the light," he said, adding that the state’s progress would not be hindered by detractors. He called on the people to continue supporting his government beyond 2026 for sustained growth and development.
