As Nigerians revel in the joy of Christmas and New Year, Osun State Government emphasizes its commitment to environmental sustainability.
In a press statement by Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin, Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation of Osun State, he said we must focus on the well-being and safety of our environment.
Hon. Adejoorin appealed to the residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse to forestall health hazards.
The commissioner pressed on the importance of a collective approach towards maintaining a clean environment. By advocating for the prevention of debris accumulation in water systems, he emphasized the potential to reduce flood risks significantly. Furthermore, he encouraged citizens to imbibe practices like proper waste disposal and recycling, thereby ensuring cleaner waterways.
He said, "As we celebrate this year Christmas and New Year, we should remember that a healthy living can only be achieved through a clean environment. I want to implore Osun citizens to take their environment very seriously."
"Dumping of refuse indiscriminately should be discouraged. It's forbidden to drop your refuse on the highways, anyone caught will be dealt with according to the relevant provisions of the law."
