PROTOCOLS
The good people of Osun state at home and abroad.
I greet you warmly with best wishes of a prosperous and blessed new year. I convey my intimate prayers that the new year will bring us new opportunities, progress and advancement as a state and in our individual lives.
I extend new year greetings to the elders of Osun state; to our royal fathers; to our religious leaders; to the young and the old; to professional elites, to artisans, to students and to womenfolk. Accept my sincere appreciation for your support before my election and for the last one year of my governorship of our dear state. I am humbled by your prayers and mass backing for our administration.
I remain firmly focussed on the Five Point Agenda under which you, Osun people, elected us into office. We reaffirm our faith in the principles guiding the five point agenda which are transparency and accountability, open government, localisation, responsive leadership and attunement to citizens' aspirations.
On the strength of the above, our government devised wholesale approach to governance such as:
●Dismantling bobby traps planted by our predecessor,
●Blocking leakages in public finance, ●Addressing the corruption and revenue diversion in the solid mineral sector,
● Restoring local government administration for grassroot development
● Embarking on mass water project provision
● Executing 91 kilometers of road construction
● Implementing free medical surgeries with over 50,000 beneficiaries;
● Total renovation of 31 schools
● Launching sport sector reforms
● Reviving the major commercial and industrial projects of the state
● Pushing for implementation of agric processing zone in Osun state;
● re-professionalisation of the public service;
● Strong attention to workers' welfare;
● Tapping into tourism, entertainment and cultural potentials of the state;
● Ramping up efforts for a cargo and commercial airport for Osun state, among others.
Our administration achieved a lot by ensuring belt tightening, reducing cost of governance and denying ourselves many perquisites of office. As a Governor, my official expenditures are covered through the approval process rather than security votes, thereby assuring transparency and accountability.
As of today, our administration is struggling to purchase official vehicles for the state cabinet because the officials of the previous government bolted away with state vehicles. So our cabinet and other top officials have been using their private cars since we appointed them into office. Also, we are still working to renovate the official quarters vandalized by the officials of previous governments. Many of our top officials still operate from their private houses.
Despite the above handicap, our team is determined to continue to deliver on our electoral promises. I am glad to report with gratitude to God that we have remained responsive to the will and aspirations of our people. We get positive feedback and we are satisfied with our high approval ratings.
We are challenged to do more. We are prepared to make corrections where necessary as much as we will remain uncompromising when it comes to anti-corruption drive, transparency and accountability as well due process. As I always affirm, our tenure is married to rule of law and fear of God.
As a people, our nation is passing through serious economic challenges. As a sub-national entity ,Osun, like all other states within the federation ,bears harsh consequences of inflationary crisis, high cost of living and unstable exchange rates. These are macro and micro economic issues largely beyond the purview of the state governments.
In this national economic crisis, the Federal Government through the National Economic Council attempted to create a collective focus for a solution. All states committed themselves to this national joint effort. This resulted in specific interventions designed to cushion the negative fallouts of the national dislocation in the national economy.
We, as a state government, commend President Bola Tinubu for his relentless action towards economic restoration. But as we all know and as we are still experiencing, the economic crisis continues unabated despite the best of efforts. Osun, through the National Economic Council, is collaborating with the central government to support federal initiatives targeted at reducing inflation, cost of living and stabilising the national economy.
I assure our people that the various intervention funds received from the Federal Government and development partners are being carefully applied for various purposes as designed, ranging from infrastructure, wage award, transport logistics to social investment as manifested in the many completed and ongoing grassroots development projects in Osun state. Our administration ensures strict compliance with due process, procurement laws and public service financial regulations.
Beyond supporting federal initiatives, our government is also ensuring judicious application of intervention resources for maximum impact. Unlike the practice in the past, our government is focussing on groups with a likely multiplier effect on the larger society. We are aware of the strong nexus between formal and informal sectors of Osun society.
To this end, our interventions is an holistic one that emphasise the following:
● Regular, full payment of workers' salaries as at when due;
● Phased payment of half salary debt as a form of palliative;
● Phased payment of pension debt;
● Free enrolment of all pensioners in the health insurance scheme;
● Quarterly Imole free medical surgeries;
● Wage award to pensioners and public workers;
● Introduction of Imole bus service;
● Boosting local economy through strong local content in project implementation; and
● a system of direct labour for localisation.
I am happy to also report that as the state ramps up efforts to cushion the effect of hard times, we are also implementing an ambitious state agenda which targets infrastructure upgrade, diversifying the state economic base and deepening the revenue structure of the state.
For the infra upgrade, we are convinced that the state economy cannot attract required investment to realise its industrial potential unless the problem of infrastructure deficit is addressed. Hence, we have started the implementation of the multi-billion naira infra plan that I launched a few months ago.
For economic diversification, we are growing the creative industry; we are opening up the industrial sector; we are attracting investors in key sectors; and we are re-skilling our youth through the soon to be unveiled Imole Youth Corps.
To deepen the revenue base, we are tapping into the solid mineral sector; we are reforming the tax sector to eliminate multiple taxation while widening the tax base.
Our dream is for an Osun economy that gradually moves away from its civil service status to a modern agro - industrial based, creative industry focussed economy. Such diversification with a functioning cargo/commercial airport will grow Osun as an export oriented economy as well as a global tourist destination being the host of important Yoruba cultural assets.
My good people of Osun state, I just signed Budget 2024 into law. It encompasses our plans and agenda for the new year. It is a year of reconstruction and eventual recovery. The infra projects slated for implementation this new year under the multi-billion naira programme include the following:
● Phase 2 of the reconstruction and furnishing of schools,making a total of 35 schools;
● Phase 2 of the water projects: 332 water projects, one in each ward of the state;
● Renovation, and in some cases, reconstruction and furnishing of primary care health centers. 345 in number with at least one in every ward of the state;
● Phase 2 of rehabilitation and Construction of roads across the State of about 1.5 Kilometers in each LGAs, totalling 31 kilometers of roads;
● Dualization of Old Garage - Okefia - Lameco road, Osogbo;
● Dualization of Ilesa/Akure -Brewery - Palace road, Ilesha;
● Dualization of Akoda-Baptist High School - Oke Gada road, Ede;
● Construction of flyover Okefia Roundabout, Osogbo;
● Construction of flyover at Lameco Roundabout, Osogbo;
● Construction of Flyover at Alamisi Junction roundabout, Ikirun;
● Construction of flyover at Mayfair Roundabout, Ile Ife;
● Construction of flyover at Owode market, Ede;
● Completion of rehabilitation of Inter-city roads such as Osogbo-Iwo Road plus dualisation from Odo Ori to Odo Oba River;
●Rehabilitation of Otan Ayegbaju - Iresi road;
● Rehabilitation of Ede-Egbedi-Erin Osun road among others.
We are implementing all the above projects without borrowing a kobo. We are relying on savings from various earnings, blockage of revenue leakage and reduction in the cost of governance and projects through localisation and direct labor.
Our administration has big ambitions to develop our dear state. We seek to bridge the developmental gap, to combine human and physical development. We are in a hurry to achieve both human and capital growth. My people, it is achievable. It is doable.
In the new year, we will refocus attention on cushioning current economic hardship while at the same time building the state economic base. Both goals are achievable as we have demonstrated in the last one year.
We seek your continued support to achieve our common agenda for collective prosperity. We promise to continue to be a listening and responsive administration, a government of the people ,by the people and for the people.
I wish you all a happy, blessed New Year.
HE, Senator Ademola Adeleke,
Executive Governor of Osun State

IMOLE OSUN: Laudable Achievements of Governor Adeleke's 2023 Activities
By James Bamgbose
The present tranquillity in Osun governance atmosphere emerged from the July 16 2022 Gubernatorial election, followed by the swearing-in of a new Governor on November 27, 2022. He resumed office with his clear 5-points agenda which are Adequate provision for workers' welfare, salaries, gratuities and pensions; boosting the state economy by Business partnering and support for SMEs; Osun funds serving Osun people through homegrown infrastructure policy; People-focused social policy through skill-based education, affordable healthcare state security and social support; Agro-based industrialisation for wealth and job creation for youths and women. The man who is to steer this ship for the next four years was no other than His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.
Governor Adeleke's tenure has marked a paradigm shift in governance, despite attempts by detractors to undermine his efforts. His swift achievements earned him the moniker "Mr. Performer" within a year in office.
In 2023, Governor Ademola Adeleke achieved significant milestones that have had a profound impact on the development and economy of Osun State focusing on infrastructure, community empowerment, healthcare, and welfare initiatives.
These achievements have not only transformed the physical landscape of the state but have also had far-reaching economic benefits, positively impacting the lives of the citizens.
One of the key accomplishments of Governor Adeleke's administration in 2023 is the extensive rehabilitation and reconstruction of over 90km of intercity roads across all 9 Federal constituencies in the state. This initiative has not only improved connectivity but has also enhanced economic activities by facilitating the movement of goods and people within and beyond the state.
The launch and subsequent deployment of optic fibre across Osun State marks a significant leap forward in the state's technological advancement. Osun State witnessed the launch of a comprehensive optic fibre deployment program. This technological infrastructure investment is crucial for enhancing communication networks, promoting digital inclusion, enabling businesses to thrive in the digital age, and fostering economic growth through improved access to information and online services.
Also in a bid to empower communities and vulnerable groups, Governor Adeleke in 2023 launched a project that provided grants totaling N389,542,466.00 to 50 communities and 13 vulnerable groups. These grants were aimed at implementing various micro-projects tailored to the specific needs of each community, thereby promoting grassroots development and inclusivity.
On workers' welfare, in a move to boost the morale of civil servants and pensioners during the economic situation of the nation, Governor Adeleke commenced the payment of wage awards in December 2023. This timely action demonstrates a commitment to honouring labour agreements and ensuring the financial well-being of workers and pensioners during the nation's current economic state.
Also recognizing the importance of healthcare access for retirees, Governor Adeleke demonstrated his commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for senior citizens. Governor Adeleke successfully enrolled 23,000 pensioners into the state health insurance scheme. This initiative not only provides much-needed healthcare coverage but also alleviates the financial burden on pensioners, thereby improving their overall well-being.
Additionally, Governor Adeleke prioritized the welfare of pensioners. In 2023, Governor Adeleke's administration ensured the prompt payment of about 28 billion Naira as pension and gratuities to pensioners of all categories. This commitment to honouring financial obligations to retired civil servants reflects the administration's respect for the contributions of senior citizens to the state's development.
On infrastructural investment, Governor Adeleke launched a massive N100 billion infrastructure plan covering road construction, healthcare infrastructure, clean water provision, and school rehabilitation across all areas of the state. This ambitious plan is poised to elevate the state's infrastructure to world-class standards, attracting investments and fostering sustainable development.
These are just a few of the laudable accomplishments of Governor Adeleke's vision to significantly contribute to the development and economic growth of Osun State. Others include the provision of portable water for 332 wards across the state; Imole Surgical outreaches, an outreach that provided free surgeries to over 50,000 citizens of the state, commencement of the University of Ilesa with an approval of courses by NUC amongst other things.
After a critical evaluation of the achievements of this Government since its first day in office to her 100 days in office till date, the vital question of "how was he able to achieve these despite the humongous debt burden passed to him by his predecessor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola?".
The only answer to this question and other questions in the mind of Osun People concerning the ways and manners the Governor has administered the state within his first year in office despite various anti-people policies the last administration set for the state, especially in the financial status of the state.
Governor Adeleke's unwavering commitment to fulfilling his promises to his people and prioritizing the welfare of government workers has earned him recognition as a leader who puts the interests of his people first. As Osun State continues on this path of progress, Governor Adeleke's legacy of inclusive and sustainable development is set to leave a lasting impact on the state's future.

Osun Workers Confer Award on Governor Adeleke, Calls Him "Most Humane Governor"
NEWS RELEASE
● Governor Issues N2.9 Billion Naira Pension Bond
● Osun will Soon Become Singapore of Nigeria- Governor Adeleke
OSOGBO- 21/12/2023 - Osunstate.gov.ng
It was a carnival show at the Governor's office as the entire Osun public workers confer award of the most humane Governor of the Year on Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Workers in their hundreds led by Comrade Lasun Oladele, the Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council, presented the award of the "Most Humane Governor of the Year" to the Governor with top ratings and ranking for the Governor across the sectors of the state economy and governance.
With all public service union leaders taking turns to reel out justification for the award, the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina said the event is not just an award but that the giving out of another Two Billion, Nine Hundred Million naira pension bond made the gathering a unique one.
"Your Excellency, the entire workforce of Osun State and retirees have a lot to celebrate today as we rejoice with You on the conferment of this well-deserved award by the Labour Leaders in the State on you.
"Experience has shown very clearly that there is a wide gap between campaign promises and the actual delivery of dividends of democracy. The case of our amiable Governor is a radical departure from this position as workers and retirees have continued to benefit from the kindness of the Governor. You indeed displayed great character and integrity by fulfilling your campaign promises to the workers and pensioners in the State in many areas:
"Prior to the advent of your Administration in the State, senior workers were owed several months of unpaid half salaries, a situation that came to the national limelight. Believing that governance is a continuum, your administration has been consistently offsetting these backlog of salary and pension arrears. As we speak, four months arrears have been paid to date
"Your administration cash-backed arrears of promotions from the previous Administrations which were in millions of naira
"You broke the age long jinx of aberration of Coordinating Directors as career heads of MDAs by appointing qualified civil servants as Permanent Secretaries, an action that brought life back to the entire Civil Service. You have said this is a continuous exercise
"You have consistently approved release of fund for officers to embark on professional training to enhance their performances at work
"You have ensured regular and consistent payment of full salaries and pension without hindrance
"You recently granted approval for conduct of year 2023 promotion for all categories of qualified workers across the entire gamut of the public service. As we speak, the enabling circular has been issued by the Civil Service Commission
"You increased the monthly release of fund for the payment of gratuities for retirees at the State level by 100%, that is, from N50m to N100m
"You increased the monthly release of fund for the new pension scheme from N175m to N350m, that is, by 100%.At the local government level, it was increased to N400m
"Recently, you graciously approved the payment of #15,000 palliative to each worker and #10,000 to each retiree beginning from this month to cushion the effect of petroleum subsidy removal", the Head of Service noted
Speaking further, Elder Aina said "There is no further testimony to your benevolence sir as today your Excellency is set to release bonds worth billions of naira to retirees under the new pension scheme to make life more bearable for them. All of these have been achieved through prudent fiscal policy that have not in any way affected the capital expenditure of government.
"Given all these,I wish to remind all public servants of the popular adage that "to whom much is given, much is expected". I encourage us to re-dedicate ourselves to the ideals of the Service so as to enhance our productivity, efficiency and capacity in the discharge of our official duties. This is the only way we can really appreciate the kind gestures of our Governor towards us", he concluded.
Osun will soon Become Singapore of Nigeria– Governor Adeleke
Delivering his speech, Governor Adeleke assured Osun people of sustained pursuit of the progress of the state, saying he will continue to give priority to the welfare of workers in the state.
"Today, I am again deeply overwhelmed by the show of love and support from great Osun workers and retirees. The outpouring of affection for me and my team has further rekindled my faith in our five point agenda for which workers' welfare is number one.
"Some months ago, the Nigeria Union of Pensioners conferred on me the award of the most workers' friendly governor. I was told that was the first time the union would grant such honor to a serving Governor. Here we are today again with the entire workforce of the public service acknowledging our modest contributions to the development of our dear state.
"The positive testimonies from the various unions and labour leaders attested to the correctness of our original thinking when running for the state governorship. We had analyzed the political space and concluded then that the smartest way to grow Osun is workers welfare. We accept and adopt the reality that human capital is a strong foundation for integrated development of the state.
"We had also spotted the nexus between formal and informal workers in the state. Easing the challenges of the public service has the tendency to uplift the economic well being of the informal sector. These analyses were responsible for placing workers' welfare as number one priority in our governance agenda.
"We are vindicated today as the workforce has validated our approach to governance. This vindication has challenged our team to remain focussed and engaged in our relentless drive for new life for our people. I long to expand our capacity to meet the needs of the people, to deploy human development as a tool for societal transformation. We will further innovate as a government to meet workers at the point of their needs. "I therefore humbly accept this award as "The Most Humane Governor of the Year". Dear workers and stakeholders, I cherish this honour done to me and my team. You have further fired our existing strong interest in welfare issues for both serving and retired members of the workforce.
"It is in this direction that I have further approved the release of another tranche of bonds totaling Two Billion , Nine Hundred and Twenty Five Million, Three Hundred and Thirty Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty Five kobo (N2,925,332,835.75).
The breakdown is as follows: State Retirees - One Billion, Three Hundred Million Naira (N1,300,000,000.00)
LG/Primary School Retirees- One Billion, Six Hundred and Twenty Five Million, Eight Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand Naira(1,625,332,835,75)

WHY WE REVIEWED LEASE ON NNPC MEGA STATION AT ABERE -OSCOL MD
PRESS STATEMENT
It has come to our notice some mischievous information being peddled on social media concerning the planned termination of the lease agreement between our company, Osun State Investment Company Limited, the owner of the Mega Station at Abere, Osun State and NNPCL Osun State Investment Company Limited, a limited liability company set up under the Company and Allied Matters Act entered into a 10-year leasing agreement with NNPCL in 2018 for the running of the company’s newly built Mega Station at Abere.
The new management of the company, in line with best practices did a general review of the businesses and all contractual agreements considering the poor state of the business and to shore up the revenue base.
This is how we discovered to our dismay that the leasing contractual agreements done was lopsided in favour of the Lesee and our company at a financial disadvantage. It's like the notorious P&ID contract.
Those that did the agreement from our side must have agreed to the poor terms for reasons best known to them but definitely not in the interest of either the company, state or the citizens.
Very ridiculous money was paid for the ten years’ leasing, with NOTHING coming to the company either monthly or annually. And out of this paltry sum, OSICOL is still the one paying the annual insurance on the property.
The mega station is also poorly operated as they hardly have petrol to sell to the people. Most times, sales are done through one pump with long queues of buyers.
After our letter, as expected, the local management of NNPC had a meeting with us and promised to have a second look at the agreement and come up with favorable terms that would ensure a win-win situation between the two organisations.
So, the issue of selling is in the figment of the imagination of the social media servants of those that have been exploiting our organisation in the past five years.
Those that benefited from the previous terms are the ones that are jittery and paying for this campaign of calumny.

No Plan to Convert State Property For Private Use - Information Commissioner
NEWS RELEASE
No Plan to Convert State Property for Private Use- Information Commissioner OSOGBO- 18/12/2023 - Osunstate.gov.ng
Our attention has been drawn to a fake news published by a platform known for its consistent spreading of false news which is increasingly bringing pressure for the invocation of the cyber crime act.
We strongly state that the state government is not converting any state property including the NNPC mega station for private use as headlined in the false publication. Even the published letter from the state investment company never mentions anything like conversion to private use but emphasizes the need for review of the state business interest.
Where the peddlers of fake news got her falsification from is what will be determined when the cybercrime act is invoked.
We assure the public that the state government is committed to protection of public properties and profitable management of state investment. This administration is not like the paymaster of the purveyor of fake news who carted away government vehicles and looted government quarters after their defeat in July 2022.

Valley View University Confers Honorary Doctorate Degree on Governor Adeleke
NEWS RELEASE
Valley View University Confers Honorary Doctorate Degree on Governor Adeleke ● Cites Governor's Records on Good Governance
● Save Democracy by Delivering on Good Governance, Governor Adeleke Tasks African Leaders
ACCRA- 17/12/2023 - Osunstate.gov.ng
For delivering on good governance in the last one year, Ghana's premier chartered university, Valley View University has conferred an honorary doctorate degree on Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state, calling him "a model in Africa's search for good governance"
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof William Koomsion said the university reviewed the Governor's antecedent as a businessman and former Senator alongside his ethical leadership since assuming the governorship of Osun state, Nigeria to arrive at its decision.
The Vice-Chancellor lauded the Governor's multi-million naira education scholarship as a Senator, his sterling records on workers welfare as a Governor, his performance on infrastructure upgrades and his commitment to due process, rule of law and fear of God.
The university which is a Seventh Day Adventist university also invited the Governor as a convocation guest speaker with the theme: Imparting Excellence, Integrity and Service: Nurturing Ethical Leaders in Changing World for which the Governor called on leaders to sustain good governance to safe democracy in Africa.
Accepting the conferment, Governor Adeleke reiterated the importance of good governance for democracy, submitting that the conferment of the doctorate degree is a testimony to his administration's unbending desire to take Osun to new heights.
" Our administration was only doing what we are elected to do- selfless pro-people service. Little did we know we are being monitored even outside Nigeria. I did not know our modest effort had so much impact beyond our imagination. This is a challenge to do more", the Governor noted in his acceptance speech.
● Save Democracy by Delivering on Good Governance- Adeleke
Earlier in his convocation speech as a guest speaker, the Governor bemoaned the increasing erosion of democratic culture due to the non-commitment of many leaders to good governance.
The Governor, who said leaders face the challenge of balancing questions of excellence and integrity in public service, affirmed that leaders must play according to the rules and avoid unethical activities.
He speaks further at the lecture:
"Doing the right thing as a leader in policy delivery is the expected output of every public leader. Ensuring best service delivery with the right moral compass is the best expectation in public life. Achieving both excellence and integrity is the calling of ethical leaders.
"Ethical leaders are expected to be rule-driven, honest, consistent, goal-driven and oriented towards the aspirations of the people. He or she should avoid corruption and ensure public resources serve the public interest. In his mind, nothing should interfere with community's joint vision. The well-being of the people is the driving force of all ethical leaders.
"Such leaders exist within the African political space but they are increasingly few. Leaders in Africa are faced with multiple issues which undermine the drive for excellence. In the midst of deep poverty and high levels of under-development, the pursuit of excellence in governance is increasingly a goal hardly pursued. Pursuant of self-survival supersedes ideals that focus on responsible and people-driven governance. The environment of hunger, poverty, diseases and huge infrastructure deficit undercut the upholding of noble leadership ideals.
"Much more complicated is the consequent political instability on the continent. Failure of leaders to be rule-driven by abiding by the Constitution brings new actors into the scene. Refusal to abide by term limits and free and fair elections creates an expanded level of leadership deficit. Many leaders lack credibility and legitimacy as the process of their ascendance to power is suspect. Governance thereafter becomes a difficult task as many leaders are engaged in continuous suppression of the rule-driven system.
"As a sitting Governor and a former Senator in the Nigerian Senate, it is my considered opinion that embracing an ethical leadership model will speed up the achievement of public service excellence and good governance in Africa. The complicated social, economic and political challenges facing Africa can only be tackled by leaders who are married to the rule of law, and due process alongside practical fear of God. A leader holding power of life and death over the citizens must be accountable, responsive and citizen-centred.
"Africa cannot achieve good governance if the constitutions are serially violated if elections are violently rigged, if leaders are of the sit tight model. The problem of underdevelopment will remain forever with Africa if public resources are diverted into private pockets, if public contracts are triply inflated and if poor quality projects are foisted on the populace.
"Democracy remains the best vehicle to deliver good governance. Democracy is however sustainable only when leaders govern by the rule of the game. Increasingly, democracy is under serious threat by the low level of ethical leaders and the prevalence of despots pretending to be democrats. Military rule is creeping in across Africa and the continent is at a loss as to how to stem the negative trend.
"At a time when democratic regression is surfacing in Africa, the world is changing at a very fast phase. The threat of climate change is unrelenting at a time when tech advancement is disrupting every facet of global society. Africa is however still battling to provide basic provision of lives for her citizens.
"To achieve excellence in public leadership, Africa is in dire need of ethical leadership. We need leaders who will avoid corruption, a despotic mindset and support deep adherence to the rule of law. We must ensure survival of democracy by sticking to the rule and eschew disobedience of the electoral will of the citizens. Leaders must see their offices as a call to duty to serve and not to be served; to consult and not to dictate, and to observe and not violate the rule of law.
"In my state back in Nigeria, I have four rules of engagement as a Governor namely adherence to the rule of law, zero tolerance for corruption, commitment to good governance and fear of God in public leadership", the Governor concluded the address with a standing ovation from students and top dignitaries at the occasion.
Governor Adeleke was accompanied to the event by the Chief of Staff, Hon Kazeem Akinleye, the publisher of Ovation magazine, Bashorun Dele Momodu and other top officials of the Osun state government.

Osun Govt Says Food Poisoning Drama is a Scam
NEWS RELEASE
● Invites Security Agencies to Investigate Purveyors of Fake News
● Pupils Were Not Poisoned Under the O'Meal Programme - Management*
●Political miscreants behind false rumours
OSOGBO- 12/12/2023 - Osunstate.gov.ng
Osun state government has announced the results of its investigation into the alleged food poisoning of some pupils at Osogbo, declaring that the pupils were not poisoned under the Osun Home Grown School Feeding Programme, O'Meals
The government further noted that the videos and fake news stories were the handiwork of political opponents who were out to tarnish the image of the state government.
Findings of government investigation also showed the inconsistency in the testimonies of some of the parents as well as the shady circumstances between the morning feeding and alleged food poisoning late at night.
The report highlighted also the involvement of an opposition operative who stayed around the school and who videoed and distributed the arranged video with many in the video denying stories of food poisoning.
The government has subsequently invited the security agencies to investigate the matter with a view to bring those behind the fake drama and video to book.
Opening up on the outcome of investigation ordered by Governor Ademola Adeleke was the Special Adviser to the Governor on O-Meal programme, Hon Grace Ayodele, who declared pointedly that some pupils of St James Primary School, Owo-Ope in Osogbo were not poisoned from a meal served by a vendor of the programme.
Casting doubt on the circumstances surrounding the alleged poisoning, as it appears peculiar that affected pupils originate from the same street and were transported to the same hospital by their parents simultaneously and were video-recorded concurrently, she narrated the outcome of the on the spot investigation conducted for several hours today by top officials, parents and school officials.
She stated that the state government has carried out fresh tests on the alleged pupils and the results were returned as negative to food poisoning.
"The clinical tests conducted at the teaching hospital confirmed no traces of food poisoning and the affected vendors have been discharged accordingly, the Governor's aide declared.
The Special Adviser stressed that the pupils who were allegedly poisoned have since returned to school to continue their examinations.
The statement reads in part, "The reported food poisoning should not be associated with the mid-day meal given to the pupils by the O'Meals food vendors.
"The whole allegation was discovered to be politically initiated by some miscreants who intended to score cheap political goal."
According to Hon Ayodele, it will interest the public to know that the students who were said to have been poisoned have since returned to school to continue their examinations. They were fed in the morning and they showed no sign of illness throughout the day".
She went further to add that women recruited into the O'Meal programme as food vendors are certified cooks who prepare their meals under the most hygienic environment.
