PRESS STATEMENT
-Says No Cause For Alarm,
- Calls on residents to maintain law and order
OSOGBO - 31/01/2025

Following the ruling of an Osun State High Court of Justice sitting in Ile Ife, which on Thursday, voided the Osun State Government white Paper that approved the removal of Oba Adegboyega Famodun as Owa of Ignajo, Osun State Government says it received the judgement with rude shock and disbelief because the same High Court of Osun State had earlier validated the Osun state white Paper in a judgement of the Osun State High Court, between CHIEF RASHEED DIEKOLA TOOGUN & 4 ORS .V. GOVERNOR OF OSUN STATE & 8 ORS in HOS/8/2024 delivered by Agboola J of the Osun State High Court dated 11th November, 2024.
Having reviewed the two contradicting decisions of the Osun state High Court vis-a-vis the Appeals and other relevant applications that has been filed on them and as a Government who respect the Rules of Law, the Government has urged all parties to the suit to maintain status quo until the issue is resolved by the Court of Appeal.
The Osun State Government's position on the ruling was made known today by the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi in a Press Statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
While calling for calm, law and order to prevail in respect of the judgement, Alimi urges the security operatives to maintain law and order in Igbajo so as to prevent the disruption of peace currently being enjoyed in the ancient town.
Part of the Press Statement by Alimi reads;.
"We have taken the ruling of the High Court of Justice, Ile Ife presided over by Justice A.O Ayoola in good faith and in line with the dictates of the law which the present administration of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke believes in and is always ready to uphold at all times.
"Be that as it may, the Osun State Government and other parties to the suit have the right of Appeal in this regard and all necessary mpapers have been filled accordingly.
"In the interim, we are using this opportunity to appeal for calm and restraint especially from all stakeholders.
"We are particularly calling on the people of Igbajo irrespective of where the course of justice swings to, to embrace order and decorum by maintaining law and order in respect of the present development in the ancient town.
"It will be out of place and in sharp contrast to the peaceful atmosphere reigning in Igbajo community and Osun State at large for people to take laws into their hands.
"Government will frown at any act of lawlessness from any quarter in and outside the ancient town”, the statement noted.

Governor's Spending: Adeleke’s Prudent Management of Osun Resources
By Olalekan Badmus (Phoenix)
In recent time, opposition elements in Osun state, especially of the All Progressives Congress (APC) extraction, have made it a habit to push a wrong impression of profligacy on Governor Ademola Adeleke. A recent example was an article by one Adebayo Adedeji, which attempted to stuck imaginary sense of financial recklessness on Governor Adeleke, conjuring numbers to sell his disjointed narrative.
At the heart of Adedeji's mischief lies a claim that N44.6 billion was spent on maintaining the governor and his associates in two years. While that claim has no basis in facts, it is important to highlight Adedeji's penchant for falsehood to drive political agenda, against verifiable evidences. By the record, the expenditure for the Governor's Office, which I must stress for the umpteenth time, extends beyond Mr. Governor for the 2023 fiscal year, was N15.925 billion.
This amount includes, but not limited to capital expenditure incurred on the renovation of government house and the completion of the VIP lodge, abandoned by the past administration of Governor Oyetola. This was done in fulfillment of Governor Adeleke’s pledge to complete all abandoned projects inherited from past administration with impacting value to the people of Osun. Also, the expenditure of the Governor's Office covers medical interventions for more than 50,000 residents in the state under the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach, providing the much needed relief to beneficiaries and contributing to a healthy population.
A closer look at this number, in comparison with surrounding states, deflates Adedeji’s cheap propaganda. In Ekiti state, which is under his political party, the expenditure for the Governor's Office in the same year, was N21.881 billion, that is about N6 billion more than what was spent in Osun. For Ogun state, the Governor's Office expenditure for 2023 was N56.619 billion and Lagos state expenditure for the Governor's Office stood at N46.322 billion, while Oyo state spent N26.187 billion to manage its Governor's Office in the 2023 fiscal year.
What the above figures highlighted is the cost associated with governance, which I am very sure Adedeji is well aware of but just choose to shy away from, due to political considerations. From the figures above, it was clear that Osun spent the lowest and that goes to show Governor Adeleke's financial discipline. The only exception was Ondo state which incurred an expenditure of N6.337 billion in 2023 and the reason is not unconnected to the absence of governance in the state for most part of the year under review, due to the prolonged ailment of the then Governor, late Rotimi Akeredolu.
In 2024, while Osun expended N25.495 billion in maintaining its Governor's Office for the full year, Ekiti state has spent N28.781 billion by the third quarter. For Lagos state, the expenditure incurred by the third quarter of 2024 stood at N35.814 billion while Oyo state has spent N24.617 billion. The actual figure for Ogun state couldn't be ascertained as the state didn't upload its budget performance report while Ondo state political crisis overshadowed the 2024 fiscal year performance.
This is where the real problem lies– Adedeji's desperation to give a wrong idea of Governor Adeleke for political reason appears to always outweigh his sense of objectivity. This was exactly the motivation of his ludicrous claim of profligacy against the Adeleke administration because the financial records, when compared with other states, especially in the Southwest, tells a different narrative.
A similar outlandish claim made by Adedeji was that the Adeleke administration spent N743 million on obligations to pensioners. It is either that Adedeji does not know how to interpret a budget or lost to his usual mischief because the record clearly showed that the total expenditure incurred by the Bureau of Public Service Pension for the year 2024 totaled N16.36 billion. This amount was almost more than what the APC administration, particularly under Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, spent on obligations to pensioners in two full years.
The most funniest thing about Adedeji was his wrong notion on the funding for agriculture under Governor Adeleke. For Adedeji, N5.8 billion spent on agriculture and food security by the Adeleke administration was unimpressive, however, that amount was more than the N3.944 billion that the Oyetola administration spent on agriculture for the entire four years of his administration.
Another of his ridiculous claims was on the purchase of vehicles to aid discharge activities of the state government. Oftentimes, I struggle to understand the basis of Adedeji’s criticism about governance in Osun State under Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Adedeji is well aware of the deliberate looting of government assets, including vehicles by officials of past administration of APC in Osun state, yet he attempts to re-write history for political agenda (not the first time). Had Adedeji been a good student of economics and understood the concept of cost pull inflation, as is currently being experienced in Nigeria, he wouldn’t have questioned the rationale behind purchasing an item such as vehicles, for an amount higher than earlier envisioned or budgeted.
I am not sure what Adedeji is saying is that Permanent Secretaries should have no vehicles to conduct official businesses or that Commissioners should have no mobility to discharge their duties because past officials in the government of his party went away with most of what should serve those purposes.

The Mewolaka Verdict On Osun Politics
By Sarafa Ibrahim
A few days ago, a social commentator, Mewolaka, stirred a big political debate in Osun state, when she swerved from her known political trajectory by acknowledging the exceptional performance of Governor Ademola Adeleke in office. She was clearly not a fan of the governor but was captivated by his deliveries in office in two years that she bluntly asserted that "forget about dancing and grammar, the man performed beyond my expectations."
This was unusual and the strength of her truth unsettles those who cannot handle it. The new standing of Mewolaka, who was opposed to the election of Governor Adeleke in 2022, is grounded not in sentiment but in the tangible deliveries of the governor in two years. Her emphasis was on meeting the people's need, which she vigorously concede that Governor Adeleke has done incredibly well.
Although, what she said was nothing out of the ordinary but coming from someone who had before doubted the capacity of Governor Adeleke to deliver good governance for Osun people meant something. In the past, Osun people endured a chaotic attitude to governance, straining not just their wellbeing but the progress of the state.
So, it was not so hard for Mewaloka, and indeed, a significant number of the population to see a turn for the better and acknowledge it. There could be no higher duty for a citizen than to recognise the effort of a government to undo the misery of the past and relieve the pains of the people through impactful governance.
It was this duty that Mewolaka discharged but those who abused the state when previously entrusted with its administration and now trying to return the borrow of the past are jolted and try to do almost anything to stifle her voice. In the last two years, Governor Adeleke has transformed Osun state and advance the wellbeing of the people.
Mewolaka succinctly captured the reality of Governor Adeleke in Osun state by declaring that "Our dancing governor favors the masses the most out of them all. Governor ADELEKE is doing well. I owe the masses the truth not you politicians." This is not a difficult conclusion to reach, though those who plunged Osun into avoidable pitfalls in the past and made the people go through undeserved pains as a result of inhumane decisions, will struggle to accept the plain truth.
All Osun people know very well how low welfare of workers and pensioners was before the coming of Governor Adeleke. Thirty-month half salary owed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration was practically forgotten as no attempt was made to pay it off by the previous administration. But things has changed for the better with Governor, even though he knows nothing about the accumulated debt, yet has paid no less than seven months for active workers while pensioners who are yet to get their bond as gotten as much as 16 months out of the half salary owed them.
The essence of leadership, anywhere, is to meet the people needs, making sure that they are better off. This philosophy aligns very well with Governor Adeleke, who has taken initiatives and decisions that will have direct bearings on the people in the last two years of his administration. This much was highlighted by Mewolaka in one of her post on Facebook that "Governor Adeleke of Osun State has introduced a new salary structure for state workers, offering seventy-five thousand naira, which surpasses the federal government's minimum wage by five thousand naira."
For pensioners, it was a lot more better as Governor Adeleke showed a sense of acknowledgement of their service to the state by giving their welfare deserved interest. Within two years, Governor Adeleke has expended more than N47 billion on the bond of pensioners on the contributory scheme, far more than what his predecessor paid in four years. As we speak, all pensioners in Osun state are covered by an expansive healthcare scheme, ensuring that they no longer have to worry about the cost of managing their health. "Behold the governor who increased pensioners' monthly pension by 25k. Our governor, Ẹyin naa a dàgbà ó!! you are truly a blessing," Mewolaka wrote on Facebook.
Mewolaka understood very well the link between the wealth of the people and economic growth. An impoverished people, as we witnessed under the APC when the welfare of workers and pensioners were treated with disdain, will definitely impact on the state's overall economic growth. This was the strength of Mewolaka's acceptance of Governor Adeleke's leadership because he prioritised the welfare of the people and want him to continue in office beyond 2026.
Beyond welfare, Governor Adeleke infrastructural renewal effort is quite visible and more, observe the much needed spread. In Osogbo, Governor Adeleke is building the first of its kind 10-span overhead bridge in Oke-Fia, which will connect with a newly constructed Old Garage-Lameco dual carriageway that will also intersect another ongoing 4-span overhead bridge at Lameco junction. In Ede, the Akoda-Oke Gada dual carriageway has been delivered by the Adeleke administration while the construction of the first of its kind dual carriageway in Ilesa is ongoing as we speak which Mewolaka said "The people of Ijeshaland will forever be grateful for..."
In a matter of weeks, the construction of the phase one of Odo-Ori to Adeeke dual carriageway will take off just as a dual carriageway project in Ila will be undertaken by Governor Adeleke. Important roads that were abandoned for decades, like the Otan Aiyegbaju–Iresi road, Egbedi–Erin Osun road, Telemu-Ilemowu-Ogbagba road and a host of others have been breathe life into and serving the communities the linked. There is no local government in the whole of Osun state without one road construction or the other going on as we speak. The transformation embarked on by Governor Adeleke is massive that even worse critic will find hard not to acknowledge.
Public schools infrastructure in the state has taken a shape for the better following massive investment by Governor Adeleke in the renewal of their infrastructures. No fewer than 100 public schools across Osun state has seen their dilapidated building fixed and equipped with furnitures and other essentials to enhance qualitative learning. More than 200 primary healthcare centres (PHCs) infrastructure have been upgraded in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO) standard as against the deplorable conditions that the previous administration left them in spite of receiving a whopping $20.5 million grant from the World Bank.
While Mewolaka may not be a politician, she was able to impress on everyone what politics should be about– and that the interest of the people should be the driving force. Her verdict on Osun politics is a remarkable indication that a performing leader like Governor Adeleke, who prioritise the welfare of the people and push hard for the development of the state, will naturally earn the support of the people.
If Mewolaka, a sworn critic of Governor Adeleke, could turnaround to become his fiercest promoter on the strength of his performance in office, the unmistakable truth is that he has been good in his job of delivering for Osun people. And, as the saying goes, one good turn deserves another, making Mewolaka advocacy for Governor Adeleke the right thing to do and other conscious citizens must join the movement to take Osun tó greater height.

He said, "Osun State is constantly getting recognitions for what outsiders and even opposition members regard as our commendable performance.
"In the last one year, our government has been conferred with several awards across the sectors. Aside from reputable newspapers like the leadership stable, we have received accolades from several federal agencies and non-governmental bodies. The consensus from those reviewing our performance and service delivery is that we are true agents of good governance.
"In all these positive ratings, my response has always been to task my team to double their efforts. In the face of overwhelming positive reviews and high approval ratings, I am compelled to drive my team harder. When recently, some opposition figures confessed to our positive ratings, I still believe we have a lot of grounds to cover.
"I am not allowing the praises to enter my head. While it may be true that I have delivered a four year task in under two years, I am propelled to do more because Osun has been left behind on many fronts. As I have reduced the infra deficit by over 40 percent, my real target Is higher. As I have bridged access to primary health care, my ambition is to also expand health access at medium and tertiary levels. While our records across the sectors are laudable as your newspaper has acknowledged, the ultimate goal is to accelerate infra upgrade alongside the boosting of soft investment for the well being of our people.
"I appreciate your candid endorsement of our performance. It is important to note that your yardstick for recognizing us correlates with similar reasons adduced by others. Our huge governance records are undeniable facts especially in workers welfare, infrastructure delivery, educational expansion, health care access improvement, solid mineral sector reforms, digital economy initiatives, agricultural mechanisation among others.
"I want to assure the public that our administration is not slowing down. Very soon, I will flag off ongoing remodeling of Osogbo stadium to assume international standard. Prior to the ongoing stadium project, we have engineered the creation of Osun Sport Commission and Osun Sport Fund through appropriate legal and policy framework.
"Very soon, I will be flagging off the dualisation of phase one of Odoori - Post office road at Iwo. The contractor for Iwo -Osogbo road has mobilized to site. We plan to complete the two projects within the life of this administration. Meanwhile, the dualisation project at Ilesa is progressing while the flyover bridge at Ile Ife is ongoing with appreciable progress. 2025 is billed to be a year of further expansion of good governance for the good of man and humanity.
Speaking earlier, Mike Okpere, the Vice Chairman of Leadership Group noted that the recognition is in order to give Governor Adeleke an insight and encouragement to do a second term.
"Your excellency you will see that, we didn't just come down here, we had a meeting before the award and that is why we are here, so this trip is to notify you formally for this award and we personally invite you on the 8th of April at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Asokoro where this award will be handed on over to you.
"Our Reputable Person of the Year is Aliko Dangote, you all are aware of the investment he just concluded, by bringing fuel production into Nigeria, because of that and many other things, we chose him as our person of the year.
"Other person's that would be sharing the merit are other Governors that have touch people's lives, among them is the Governor from Akwa Ibom, the Governor of Enugu state, the Governor of Jigawa state and the Governor of Kano state.
"We didn't call this Leadership Governor of the year, we call it Governor of the year, in other words, what we are saying is that, this recognition will give you an insight and encouragement to do a second term.
"As a newspaper company, we don't endorse Governors but when we see something we say it, your Excellency sir, I therefore want to present this notification and official invitation”, he added.

Social Media Influencer, Mewolaka Praises Adeleke's Performance, Chides Critics
By Great Oluwaseun
In a surprising event, popular relationship adviser and vlogger, Mewolaka, sparked widespread conversation after publicly commending the performance of Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Known for her outspoken nature on her belief and neutrality in party politics, the native of Ilesa shared her thoughts in a series of posts that have drawn both praise and backlash.
In a post shared yesterday, Mewolaka queried opposition party members about the identity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Osun State ahead of the 2026 elections.
She indicated her growing support for Governor Adeleke, fondly referred to as the "Dancing Governor," stating that his administration had exceeded her expectations.
“Who is Osun State APC gubernatorial candidate before I finally make up my mind to campaign for our dancing governor? Because I think he is doing wonderfully well for now. Forget about dancing and grammar; the man performed beyond my expectations,” she wrote.
This post, however, drew mixed reactions. While some applauded her honesty, others, especially APC supporters, attacked her in the comment section, accusing her of bias. Undeterred, Mewolaka clarified her stance, emphasizing that her loyalty lies solely with the masses and not with politicians.
In a follow-up statement, she describes Governor Ademola Adeleke as the most people-oriented governor the state has seen. Reflecting on Osun's political history, she drew comparisons between previous administrations and Adeleke’s tenure.
“Dear APC supporters in Osun, I kindly request that you spare me the unnecessary political lectures. I am a native of Osun State, specifically Ilesa, where I was born and raised. During my university days, I witnessed the era of Governor Bisi Akande, including the unfortunate events when civil servants demanded a minimum wage. I also lived through the tenures of his successors and am currently experiencing the administration of Adeleke Jackson. Our dancing governor favours the masses the most out of them all. Governor ADELEKE is doing well. I owe the masses the truth, not you politicians. Thank you.”
During a live Facebook session this morning, Mewolaka reiterated her political neutrality. She noted that she does not hold membership or allegiance to any political party. Her interest, she explained, is solely in advocating for policies and leaders that benefit the people.
She reminded her audience that she supported Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election based on her belief in his ability to deliver results for Nigeria. She added that her current commendation of Governor Adeleke is rooted in his impressive governance and not influenced by party affiliations.
“I wasn’t discussing politics; I was discussing my state. I’m commending the person I thought had nothing to offer, and he has proven me wrong. He is not my enemy nor my friend, and the fact that he proved me wrong does not mean I should not commend him. I did not abuse APC; I only said he is performing beyond my expectations, which is my personal opinion.”
She revealed that her previous criticisms of Governor Adeleke were based on her scepticism about his capabilities. However, she expressed gratitude for being proven wrong, by the governor’s developmental strides in just two years.
She also addressed the personal attacks she has endured over her support for APC, particularly from "Àjànàkú akewe of Osogbo," who reportedly insulted her and her family twice. The insults led to her family issuing a letter disassociating themselves from her statements. She criticized the APC’s approach to politics in Osun, describing it as anti-development and divisive.

Osun 2026 APC Ticket: Plot to Impose Oyebamiji Creates new Splinter Group
The apparent sign that Mr Bola Oyebamiji is the defacto candidate of the All Progressive Congress for 2026 has created another splinter group that is likely to be as strong as the Aregbesola group that quitted the APC ahead of the 2022 guber polls.
A major political group within the state APC is regrouping pulling together all party tendencies that opposed alleged autocratic action of the former Governors Gboyega Oyetola and Bisi Akande, the duo said to be pushing for the NIWA boss as a consensus candidate.
It was gathered that the two former Governors were not only rooting for Oyebamiji but are also insisting that only an affirmative primary will be held to annoint the Ikire politician, a dictatorial actions said to be pishing off many party members.
A new group christened “Majiyagbe Progressives” held its first meeting on Monday 13th with a resolve to push against the two former Governors in their bid to impose Oyebamiji.
A disgruntled APC chieftain who attended the meeting confirmed the emergence of the Majiyagbe group and warned against the insistence of the two Governors to follow the same path that led to the exit of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola from the party.
“I seek to be anonymous. The fact is we are angry and unhappy. We sticked our neck out for the Minister all along only for him to abandon democracy and design an imposition of his puppet who cannot win a cancellorship election at Ikire. It is not just the choice of the former Commissioner but the way the minister is going about it.
“We were told he is bitter we asked him not to run against Adeleke. But are we not right? Adeleke beat you as an incumbent. How can you beat him with such bad records? Adeleke has also won the hearts of the people. The minister ignored wise counsels when he was inside and we lost. Must we field a dead horse again in 2026?
“Why must he punish us for doing the right thing? Now he is bringing a former commissioner who is widely known to be very weak and cannot even control Irewole? Oyebamiji cannot face Senator Lere Oyewumi at Ikire. Why are these former Governors leading the our party on the path of destruction?
“We now see some reasons on the Aregbesola saga. This was how the former Governors sent Aregbesola out of the party and we lost in 2022. They have started again.
“We form the new group to vow to resist any attempt to impose Oyebamiji on us. We must learn lessons even if bitter. The former governors are not the owners of APC. We are all stakeholders”, the politicain who hail from Isokan local government affirmed.

Osun 2026: Seven Reasons Osun APC Cannot Beat Gov Adeleke
By Fidipote Ijaduola
Hack writers are appearing on the stage to test water and to project possibility of a change of guard at Abere in 2026. The strange thing is that the logic of their write up is weak even as they fail to address the lack of electable aspirants within the fold of the APC. Below are the seven reasons why Osun APC cannot beat Governor Adeleke in 2026:
1. Strong united front within the state PDP:
The state PDP is united from local to state level in its resolve to back Governor Adeleke for a second term. The Senator representing Osun East and key leaders from the zone have backed the incumbent for its numerous developmental delivery for Ijeshaland. The case of Hon Wole Oke is a local question. His people said No to his bid for a seventh term as House of Representatives member. In what way does that affect Governor Adeleke? For Osun West, the Governor has a solid home base in both Ede and Iwo alongside such towns as Ejigbo, Ikire, Gbongan, Odeomu among others. For Osun central, Osogbo people are strongly with the incumbent for his transformation of the state capital.
All key leaders of thoughts in Osogbo except two are strongly with Mr Governor. The groundswell of support for the Governor is self-evident across Igbomina area and other local governments across the central district.
2. Overwhelming Performance on Good Governance:
The delivery of the governor in education, health, agriculture and road infrastructure among others in just two years surprised even members of the opposition. The good performance has elicited positive reviewspace from far and near. The state APC cannot deny this reality as unsolicited awards for the Governor are streaming in all over the federation. As an example, a recent federal review of access to primary health care placed Osun as Number One in the South West. Isn't that marvelous?
3. Labour Union endorsements:
Most defeated Governors in Osun political history lost reelection bid because they lost labour support. In Osun, labour leaders and followers are the main campaigners for the re-election of the incumbent. They applauded the Governor for the ongoing payment of half salary and pension debt, the re-professionalisation of the public service and extensive records on workers’ welfare. Adeleke is the first governor in the history of Osun state to have workers welfare as number one on his governance agenda.
4. Adeleke’s National /Local Goodwill:
Osun election is always like a mini-national election. The rigging of 2018 guber poll in the state has deepened national interest in the Osun election, leading to the win of 2022 and widening goodwill due to the Governor’s Good performance. The local and national goodwill made Osun a no go area for election riggers. The defensive and protective strength of local coalitions and the eagle eye of the world is super potent to deter electoral robbery.
5. APC crisis of candidacy:
The Osun APC today faces a major crippling challenge-lack of electable candidates to square up with Governor Adeleke. The news is not that the former Governor is almost out of the race but his likely choice, Bola Oyebamiji is a worst version of him, a man with no political clout, a feather weight with questionable records as Finance Commissioner, a failure at Inland waterway agency and a man whose traditional ruler has just endorsed Governor Adeleke for second term. The second option, Bashiru Ajibola has inherent unelectability features, a man who despite his education acts, behaves like an untutored hand and so unsafe hands to confer with state governorship. Or Dotun Babayemi. The Gbongon prince is a political businessman with no political pedigree other than cross carpeting for business deals. His traditional ruler only recently endorsed and prayed for Governor Adeleke's second term. So, Osun APC has no electable aspirants.
6. Osun APC is Unelectable:
Due to its negative records while in power, the people of Osun are not ready to forego the present for the past. APC left over 500 billion debt. Governor Adeleke.has reduced 8t by over 40 percent in two years. The APC while in power demonstrated sadistic mien and treatment of the public. The party pauperised the people and deployed poverty as a state weapon. Adeleke’s administration changed the scenario, paying pensioners, offering free medicare to senior citizens, liquidating the half salary debt, enforcing local content in project execution, deepening local economy, fighting poverty through access to finance and upgrading infrastructure statewide.
7. Dancing Governor as Agent of Good Governance:
What the Osun APC targeted as a weakness for the incumbent has turned out to be an asset. The Governor’s love for dancing has no negative impact on his capacity to deliver on his electoral promises and his performance in government. As the Governor radiates good vibes, the state is witnessing unprecedented turn around attested to by local and national observers. Interestingly, the governor is touching all zones from Ifeland to Iwoland and from Osogbo to Ijesha land.
