Emphasizing the commitment of Adeleke's administration on improving sports, the Deputy Governor said that in the past few months key investments have been made in various facets of the sports industry. These include the successful sponsoring of the state Contingent to the last National Sports Festival in Asaba and the recent promotion of Osun United Football club to the National League.
Speaking further, Prince Adewusi pointed out key revival agenda and innovations the Government is set to bring onboard. These include:
- Comprehensive upgrade of sports facilities across the state
- Restructuring of the Osun State Games Village
- Launch of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund
- Establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission
- Adoption of a sports-for-all approach - Reintroduction of the Governor's Cup and the intercollegiate games and the principal cup
- Recruitment and training of the best administrators, coaches, and athletes - Financial rewards for athletes based on performance
- Meritocracy in appointments covering sports administrators and other related positions
The Government's plan is a good step to improve sport industry and position the state to a national standard unlike the moribund state the Government met it. No doubt, Adeleke's administration is ready for promotion of sports that will attract meaningful development in the state.
