PROTOCOLS

I want to start with a strong warning to the warring factions in the Ifon-Ilobu communal crisis. I have directed the deployment of a joint peace keeping force to include military personnel. The force has the mandate to deal with those formenting conflict in both communities.
I call on leaders of both communities to call their people to order. The joint task force will descend heavily on those agents of violence. Men of goodwill should rise up. A military deployment will punish both communities for failing to uphold peaceful negotiations and settlement.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am deeply happy to finally host this Ipade Imole, a public accountability platform, which I promised during the governorship elections. I apologise to our people for the delay in hosting this event. We are now finally here. Be assured that we will henceforth be meeting regularly on a quarterly basis.
I am here to deliver my stewardship and to get appropriate feedback. I adopt two strategies to achieve these goals.
First, my full speech containing details of my accomplishments across the sectors are included in the Imole magazine with you. Kindly check the inside pages. You will find sector by sector reports of happenings and outcomes from November 2022 to date.
Second, we have created questionnaires for all delegates attending this event. I urge you to fill your responses and submit to our officials. We want honest feedback from where myself and my team can learn
As I don't want to bore you with long speeches, I am going to address some salient issues before we go into an interactive session.
BOREHOLE PROJECTS
Our administration conceived of 332 boreholes across the 332 political wards as an intervention measure. Each borehole costs one million, five hundred thousand naira. The boreholes are functioning and serving the immediate water needs of our people.
N2 BILLION PALLIATIVE FUND
Our government has resolved to spend the palliative fund on three projects and programmes namely additional buses to ease transportation cost, rehabilitation of health centres and the purchase of food items. Procurement order has been placed in line with due process.
PENSION DEBT
Our administration has widened the coverage of the payment of pension debt. The contributory pensioners are now enjoying greater attention as accorded regular pensioners.
WHITE PAPERS ON DISPUTED KINGSHIP
The white papers are ready for presentation and approval of the State Executive Council. We assure the people of Ikirun, Iree, Igbajo and other affected towns that the approved white papers will soon be released and gazetted.
TEACHERS' SHORTAGE IN SCHOOLS
I have directed the Ministry of Education to conduct a needs assessment as a basis for recruitment and filling of vacancies in schools. I believe the report will soon be ready. Our government is also committed to the implementation of the report of the Education Summit.
STREET LIGHTS AT OSOGBO, OTHERS
Our administration has commenced the implementation of imole solar project to light up the capital city. The process is ongoing.
COST OF INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADE
Our people should be rest assured that this administration has not and will not borrow to fund ongoing infrastructure upgrades. From bridges to dualisation of existing roads among other infrastructures, we are pursuing value for money and public private partnership. Our financial plan is sustainable.
STATE SPREAD IN PROJECTS AND APPOINTMENTS
We ensure state character in our appointments and project distribution. All local governments and districts are factored into government plans and agenda.
CONTINUITY IN GOVERNANCE
We have demonstrated strong faith by ensuring the completion of many abandoned projects. I also retained many contractors inherited from previous governments. I am the governor for all Osun people, not a segment.
FUTURE PLANS
Let me also give you a peep into my plan for the future. Our people should expect the following new projects : Dualisation of roads at two per senatorial districts; Flyover bridges at Osogbo and some other towns; Street lights for newly constructed roads; Second stream of 332 boreholes across wards; Commencement of Imole transport service; and Imole Housing Estate at 500 units per federal constituency.
MY APPEAL
I once again thank our people for their patience and support. We all know the rot we inherited. It is not possible to reset and stabilise the state within two years. We are still less than a year in office and we have recorded so much progress.
