A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in Osun has said that the former Governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola has is not planning to come back to run for Governorship in the state come 2026.
The Chieftain further noted that the leadership of the party is aware are at the moment shopping for the best candidate to contest the election refusing to name anyone has a likely candidate.
Speaking to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, the Chieftain who pleaded anonymity insisted that every leader of the party knows that fielding Oyetola for election will be a disaster for the party and as such wants a fresh face.
The source further indicated that their is an open field for everyone interested in contesting to come forwards and make their interest know adding that nobody can claim to hold the ticket of the party.
The source said, “Let me explain first that, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola is not coming back to contest come 2026, he confirmed to us that he is not interested.
“What we are doing now as leaders of the party is to shop for the best candidate, we all know that fielding Oyetola again will smell doom for our party.
“Everyone interested in contesting for Governorship under our party should go to the field. Nobody is holding on to our party’s ticket, it is anyone who wins our primary election that will be our candidate.”
