In a recent piece authored by the spokesperson for the former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, there were criticisms directed towards Hon. Kolapo Alimi. Omiparo and Oyetola are still grappling with the loss they experienced in the 2022 Governorship election, which resulted in the victory of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke.
It's disappointing to read Omiparo's narrative disparaging Barr. Kolapo Alimi. Who is Omipidan to question Alimi's entry into politics? Where was Omiparo during the legal battles following the 2007 election that favoured Rauf Aregbesola? Where was Omiparo in Osun Politics between 2003 and 2018? Omipidan didn't play a role in the election that brought Oyetola to power. Omipidan's appointment as spokesperson to Governor Oyetola was merely an opportunistic move, unlike Barr. Kolapo Alimi who has proven his worth through hard work and dedication.
It's important to remind individuals like Omipidan that Hon. Kolapo Alimi isn't a novice in politics or an opportunist. He earned his current position through dedication and perseverance. Alimi played a significant role in Aregbesola's legal battles without expecting anything in return, and Aregbesola, in turn, recognized his contributions by appointing him as a commissioner.
Kolapo Alimi diligently supported Oyetola throughout the 2018 Governorship Election, displaying his usual commitment. However, instead of acknowledging his efforts, Oyetola and associates subjected Alimi to continuous persecution. This included orchestrated attacks on meeting venues, DSS summonses under Oyetola's influence, and numerous legal cases filed against Alimi and his associates during Oyetola's tenure. If they cannot reward Alimi, it is suggested they let him live in peace.
Why do people behave this way? Have you forgotten what Alimi went through during the 2018 election rerun in Ifon? Do you easily forget that Alimi travelled by road 17 times from Osogbo to Abuja for Oyetola's legal matters without receiving any payment? Do you lack the conscience to remember how Alimi defended Oyetola's mandate on all media platforms after the tribunal judgment sent him packing? Do you recall that when public opinion was against Oyetola after the tribunal judgment, it was only Alimi who stood to defend him when all APC lawyers were avoiding the media?Does Alimi deserve this treatment, even though he worked tirelessly for Oyetola and his camp?
The presence of Kolapo Alimi in the PDP and being a member of the State Executive Council is a big headache for Oyetola's faction. Omipidan and his boss should understand that not everyone can be as ungrateful as they are. Aregbesola is not ungrateful, which is why he rewarded Alimi and Governor Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke in his goodwill also compensated him. These are people who fear God, unlike the fake self-proclaimed Islamic Scholar, Omiparo, and his boss, Oyetola, who chose to repay good with evil.
