The Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has vowed to support and develop local businesses in Osun State by providing them with the resources and incentives needed to grow and thrive.
The Governor disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the Osun Trade Fair 2024, held on Thursday, 28th November at Aje International Market, Ido-Osun.
According to the Governor, the critical roles that industry, trade and commerce can play in driving the economic development and growth in the State cannot be underestimated.
"That is why we have made it a priority to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and support initiatives that promote local content development and value chain enhancement", he said.
According to him, "our goal is to ensure that Osun State changes from being a core civil service and consumer state to being a fully industrialized and productive one, in fact becoming a hub for economic growth and development in the South West region and Nigeria".
"Through this Trade Fair, we have demonstrated our commitment to empowering our local businesses, promoting entrepreneurship, creating jobs and value addition. We have also showcased the rich cultural heritage and diversity of our State and highlighted many opportunities that exist for investment and partnership".
"As we close this year’s Trade Fair, I want to implore us to work together to develop our local contents as our administration is ready to support local businesses by providing them with the resources and incentives they need to grow and thrive".
"I urge all our exhibitors and participants to utilize the connections and opportunities that you have made here by using them to drive growth and innovation in your businesses. To our visitors and guests, I invite you to take a closer look at the opportunities that abound in our State, consider investing in our local economy and to our dear people of Osun, I request you to continue to support our local businesses and promote the economic growth and development of our State".
"In conclusion, I am extending an invitation to investors in the areas of Agriculture, Mining, Technology, Tourism, Information Technology, Manufacturing among others to come to Osun which is blessed with abundant fertile arable land, Mineral resources, secured and peaceful environment, stable electricity as well as friendly, hardworking and trust worthy people".
Earlier, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, who thanked the Governor for making the fair a reality, charged all who had participated in the Osun Trade Fair 2024, to continue to working together and create a vibrant and dynamic economy that brings prosperity to all the citizens.
According to the Commissioner, "over the past 12 days, we have witnessed an impressive display of our local products such as farm produce, local crafts, and cultural heritage and I am delighted to see the level of enthusiasm and engagement that this Trade Fair has generated".
"It clearly shows that we are all committed to the same goals and objectives which are to develop our local content and its value chain to create a more prosperous future for ourselves and the future generations".
"During this Fair, we have seen numerous examples of innovation and excellence from the display of our local products, farm produce, mineral resources and services to the insightful discussions and presentations by different Trade groups".
"As we are all aware, Osun State is well known for its agricultural produce and mineral resources which are available in large quantities for both local and international use, therefore Osun State is using this medium to invite investors to our dear state".
"I also appreciate all political office holders and career officers of the various agencies of Government particularly those from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, members of Osun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OSUCCIMA), the organised private sector groups, the Local Government Councils, the Exhibitors, the assessors, the traders and all visitors who have made this programme a huge success", he said.
